No I don’t agree. Being undead doesn’t automatically change your personality, the only reason why Arthas changed was because of Frostmorne.
Sylvanas wasn’t just undead.
She had her soul ripped out and she was a lost soul for a while before she got her body back (something that was also ill explained in TFT). That changed her. I meant specifically her transition to undeath, not just a general any random ghoul or crypt fiend.
She’s more twisted than the regular undead.
It was ill explained because it’s untrue.
Untrue that she got her body back?
Untrue that she wasn’t just undead. She was as undead as the rest of the undead.
She was tormented. Rest of the undead did not have that ‘special treatment’ that Arthas gave her specifically.
This is something that was further explained in outside sources. Novels and manga like the Sunwell Trilogy and whatnot. The explanation doesn’t exist in TFT. That’s why I say TFT has us assume her motivations rather than it blatantly telling us why she is any different from any undead.
She became a banshee… that is all there is to it.
She regained her body at some point. That’s why she is a Dark Ranger and not just a regular Banshee in TFT. Again, it’s something that is not explained in the interim; we just see her with her body in tact wanting revenge on Arthas.
My point is she isn’t just a regular Banshee with a different model. She isn’t just undead the same way a ghoul just rises from the dead after death. Her case was special and it’s even clarified in outside sources. But the fact remains that we all had to assume what happened to her in TFT due to a complete lack of explanation of why she has a body suddenly, especially after we see her turn into a Banshee at the end of ROC.
She became a banshee, then she became a walking corpse… that’s all there is to it.
Right.
May as well be a completely new character since a banshee and a walking corpse do not share the same persona as their living counterpart, especially if they are tormented to the point where they go through a complete character change.
How is that hard to understand?
How hard is it for you to understand that changing form doesn’t mean changing personality?
Because I never said it was tied to changing form? Read what I said originally.
I said her transition to undeath caused her personality to change. HER. I didn’t say undeath causes personality changes, I am specifically talking about Arthas tormenting her and torturing her spirit.
She came out of it a different person, to the point where she may as well be a completely new character. She is not reminiscent of her former self.
English your first language?
Transitioning to undeath doesn’t make her a new character. At least be smart enough to realize that…
Or are you making up the lore as you go on with your own headcanon?
I didn’t say she is a new character. English really must not be your first language then considering I have to say it this many times.
You are the one saying she isn’t a new character. I am saying it doesn’t matter if she is or is not because she goes through a character arc change to the point where her personality is completely devoid of her former history and self, so even if she is the same character she doesn’t acknowledge any ties to Quel’thalas (at least within TFT).
Besides, what is your point if she isn’t a new character? You saying that she was always motivated to take over Lordaeron while she was still alive? That’s insane.
You said “She may as well be a new character”
Don’t deny the truth.
She was never motivated to take over Lordaeron… until Varimathras pushed her to do it.
Yes, and in english that isn’t the same as “She is a new character”.
It means ‘She may as well be a new character’.
Just like if I said ‘you may as well be in prison’ it does not mean you are actually literally in prison.
It’s all BS no matter how pedantic you want to be.
Yes, your argument over semantics is very pendantic, especially when you aren’t even right.
You are literally arguing about me saying ‘She may as well be X’.
Well she’s not a new character, deal with it.
Er, I never said she was from the very beginning.
You started this whole thing by saying she’s not a new character. I replied to you best I could to say it doesn’t matter if she is or isn’t, it doesn’t change our assumptions about her motivations. So yes, I dealt with it quite some time ago.
I don’t even know why you even brought that up. Old characters like Grom even have questionable motives. This is not mutually exclusive to new characters, and I made no indication whatsoever to say so.
