Patch 3.0.1 difficulty?

What is going on with this difficulty on the first map of Act 3? I don’t think it was this hard on 3.0.0, I already tried multiple times and keep failing. This feels way overtuned on normal difficulty.

I just wiped like 30 times on normal difficulty with two priests and an army of at least 12+. I’m using all my abilities, all my items, using the rune that spawns. It’s absolutely busted. and then you have to restart the 30 minute mission to turn down the difficulty… I’m watching the campaign on youtube. Huge waste of time

Just to clarify on on the first boss. The big abomination guy.

I started playing the campaign today on normal and the difficulty is INSANE. I crawled my way to the first boss and he’s literally impossible right now. This game is more difficult than Dark Souls right now WTF

Yeah, I gave up. watched the whole campaign on youtube lmao

They just released a patch making the new campaign far harder than it should be. I have no idea why, nor who decided it needed a large difficulty increase.

Guys the campaign is extremely easy even on hard… That was a main complain. Just grind more and use your hero abilities-they are really op.

It doesn’t make any sense to be that hard on normal difficult… I’ve seen videos (hard) of Anya before 3.0.1 killing the enemy heroes on this first map of act 3 with little struggle, my Anya is being 2 shotted by the lich. (normal)

The difficulty increase is pretty insane. I think I had a rather busted build before the patch and now I’m dying left and right. Can’t imagine just how difficult it is for people who didn’t grind as much as I did

With wow forever, i decided to try out warcraft 3, i played through RoC and TFT on story mode, and now tried to play forsaken kingdom on story and all of the bosses are just deleting me since the update, I’m not sure what prompted them to buff every single encounter

The difficulty tuning is totally broken. Long-time RTS and Warcraft III player, picked up Forsaken Kingdom to play through it. Playing on normal difficulty, Fudge is absolutely insane. I am microing my brain out, dodging AoEs, using character abilities, but his health pool is massive and he does so much damage off of raw auto attacks that it is just not feasible.

I’ve equipped armor, have plenty of consumes, brought in a sizable army and I just can’t do it.

I watched videos of this same fight from before the patch and it’s absolute easy mode even on hard difficulty; face-tanking his AoEs, just right-clicking with the army on him and taking him down. So it looks like things started off stupidly easy, and now they are stupidly hard.

Blizz, please re-examine the difficulty changes. You went completely overboard on the adjustment.

there were some stat changes and other adjustments in 3.0.1 that seem to have made the campaign harder regardless of difficulty level. While it’s certainly still possible, it seems that it has ramped up the frustration factor for a lot of campaign goers.

Where was this grace when I voiced my frustrations? You seriously need to examine how you interact with people who are struggling. You literally started our interaction with GIT GUD and then proceeded to harass me for a dozen post (also without reading what I wrote).

BE BETTER

I got my butt absolutely kicked in the very first prologue mission on Normal difficulty today. I had to retry on Story difficulty.

Last week I finished the Human campaign in Reign of Chaos on Normal difficulty in a few hours without failing a single mission, without having to ever reload. Forsaken Kingdom’s Normal difficulty seems completely broken at the moment.

Yay, one-shot mechanics in the 2nd prologue level on Story mode. I love having to save every 30 seconds to avoid having my time wasted.

Who the hell designed the difficulty of this game? WC3 single player used to be chill. Why is this suddenly Dark Souls like difficulty?

Normal seems more or less the same as Hard was before, which was definitely beatable, but lives up to the term “hard.” But if this is the case, I’m glad I got past it on Hard because it might be “impossible” on hard now.

I’ve been playing on Story Difficulty, because i have trouble with the multiple layers of processing RTS games require, but I really want to enjoy the lore.
I only got through the first two maps of Last Days Of Loredaeron before the update (I was redoing ROC and TFT before), so when I learned that the save system would be resetting I decided I’d just replay the first two maps.

Oh my gosh, Story difficulty is SO much harder than it was before. and FK is overall more difficult than ROC and TFT on story mode because of some of the more unique mechanics.
But now Garek and my forces keep dying over and over. yes, I am being forced to Get Good, but I just want to enjoy the story

I think some difficulty increase was in order, the thing is - usually when you nerf or buff something you do so in steps. Blizzard here just did 10 things at once. I mean even just making tomes cost 5000 instead of 1500 would have shifted balance. But nah they also messed with 50 other numbers.

Surprisingly enough, the one bit I died on at the old difficulty ended up a cake walk this time because i had different gear.

The Sewer Escape, when The boss chases after you. the first time I did it I died because I didn’t realize that they were going to Lich King Escape this mission.
On this replay? The game gave me a “Can ignore toxic gas” item and I could run through stuff instead of opening them.

Instead, Mordo kept destroying me this time around, eating three reloads before I started save scumming every event

I mean it wasn’t made by blizzard. It was made by a hive workshop team of modders.

And while Im not trying to knock modders, the quality of forsaken kingdom absolutely felt like a mod vs a studio project. The difficulty and how it scales or is paced is absolutely partially due to that.

Man, you have GOT to get into a studio sometime.

Everyone is like this regardless of if they are a modder or a studio.
The only difference tends to be “Is this something being done as a hobby or something that has studio backing and funding?”

So yeah. If you hire a bunch of modders, you get “made by Blizzard”.

Heck, Hiring modders WAS standard practice for ages, because modders tended to be more familiar with custom tools than generically trained developers.

However.

What these people also are is: Extremely good at this game they have been playing for a really long time.

That’s a design trap that game designers are trained to look out for, and it’s the reason why you have QA and New User Testing rounds, to make sure that the game is okay to play for people non familiar with the game. Learning what is challenging is a huge problem when you already have the knowledge of how to beat it.

Now.. I suspect that Forsaken Kingdom was given a rushed deadline, where a lot of elements were cut or simplified to make sure it released during Blizzcon to be used as the Forever hype.

The 3.0.1 save system changes seem to be trying to fix what was already a bodge job for the Durotar Campaign, but it wiped the old progress as a result.

The difficulty changes seemed to have been aimed at the skilled players, but the story mode seems to have been hit with the same things unintentionally.

As much as I’d like them to put a 3.0.2 out which reverts story mode back to the old numbers, I’d also like them to spend the time to actually go through and do balance passes, which take time
