Why do you put a max MMR? Never seen that before : in SC2 there is no max ; if Serral can go to 8000, he does it and that’s all.
In chess, inventor of elo, there is no max either.
Puting a max makes little sense in a competitive matchmaking system. It prevents best players to play among them, and so they go to better systems (netease or the new fan ladder, which is strangely better than blizzard’s effort). And for what benefit ? What does it bring to have a max MMR ? Nothing really.
So stop trying to invent the wheel and do this correctly, like everybody else : no max MMR.
after 2 months blizzard improvements: ladder max MMR increased from 3000 to wathever.
Meanwhile Pad (w3champ creator) in 2 weeks implemented a functioning 1v1 ladder with 2v2 coming very soon.
Seems like the cross realm games have increased since this new MMR was put in also. Maybe it finds a more accurate opponent but why am I constantly playing players from asia and europe on NA server, resulting in 250+ ping for both players.
Global matchmaking just makes no sense in a ping reliant game, idk who thought that was a good idea in the first place
Global matchmaking just makes no sense in a ping reliant game, idk who thought that was a good idea in the first place
the mindboggling cherry on top is that globalmatchmaking in versus (where ping actually matters cuz competetive) it is enabled but in custom games (where ping is not that important but finding players fast, cuz non competetive fun) it is disabled.
It should be exactly the other way round by any common sense.
Inbefore the self acclaimed “experts in game and software developement” will shait all over this statement with their nonsense: NO, changing this can not be that hard, no matter what you say.
There is no reason at all for why it is what it is.
Its just ignorant and stupid. And you guys posting your job background to solidify your braindead arguments are even more stupid btw. You could be Bill Gates, doesnt matter when the bullcrap your posting is bullcrap.
Kotick has been nothing but success for Activision, if you want to be in the realm of possibility for demanding your pound of flesh I’d start looking at people at Blizzard.
Any progress on the several dozen missing Reforged unit animations? No?
Sorry, Rexxar. Looks like you get to keep hacking away at things with the same, single attack animation. We’ll let you keep that second axe in your other hand, but you’re going to have to continue to refrain from using it.
Can’t you folks @Blizzard just copy the other attack animation from the standard Beastmaster and give it to Rexxar, fixing the position of the axes? Can’t you just give Uther’s overhead attack animation to Arthas w/ Frostmourne and polish it up? Why can’t you take the second Grom attack animation and give it to his Fel Orc variant that is missing it for whatever reason? With zero experience, I was almost able to accomplish these things with a fan made model and animation editor. I just don’t know how to properly move segments of a model while they are being animated. After having copied these animations to their respective units, there were only minor issues, which is where the polishing would come in. Rexxar and Grom’s weapons just need to be moved to fit in their hands and Arthas w/ Frostmourne has mild shoulder clipping issues with Uther’s overhead attack animation.
@kaivax So independent companies made a ladder with proper MMR faster than Blizzard and you are implementing some nonsensical minor updates to the MMR which is pointless with no ladder. So… no thanks
W3Champion ain’t a company.
It does not use MMR, it uses its own version which is based off W3Arena
MMR is the ladder - it’s just not in a nice UI which lets you gauge where on said ladder you place. It’s what makes the ladder possible at all. It’s hardly a pointless change as it will better reflect your placement come a UI or do you really think that 3k MMR would suffice for this (lol?). Obviously they could uncap it, but that seems relatively futile. Say there are 20.000 ladder players, you’d have people with 20.000 MMR and people with 0 MMR which is way too arbitrary.
I’m just waiting for the next patch to hit so I can read, again, how it’s horrible that they’re fixing things rather than… not (I suppose?). I’m pretty sure that even if they were to introduce the Ladder, Profiles, Clans and whatnot in the next patch, people would still find things to b**** about.
FYI, they won’t release either of those missing features in the upcoming patch as they haven’t released any information on it yet as they said they would, so unless it’s a nice Easter surprise… Don’t get your silly hopes up. Better to be pleasantly surprised than let down.
Don’t get me wrong, I actually think they’re taking their sweet time with those things and I refuse to believe it would take a competent team this long to get such features out the door. At best a month, at worst two. Anything above three… Is less than promising. I don’t know if it is due to budget, because of Covid-19, lack of experience or what, but it is really slow paced. I doubt my employer would let me work for that long on a small part of a software project without giving me the boot.
This ‘update’ of MM is completly useless - AT still does not have its own mmr. Moreover it even does not effect rt mmr, and you get matched with rt teams -thats makes 0 sense… For god’s sake pad is going to implement 2n2 in w3champions soon… All ‘pro’ players in 1n1 allready switched to w3 champions.
Blizzard if you want to stop the splitting of the community through thrid party programs and ladders, you have to do better and faster then what you did till now…
Why should they add this now?
We asked for it like… mmm… for the last 15 years?
Can’t you give them 15 more years at least to adapt to something that almost all the other games have by default?
Then in 2035 we can ask for “whisper to channel” and get it in 2050.
