Seriously? You are saying that you could your money’s worth with Brood War remaster, yet they have done heck of lot more with Reforged character models than ever could be done with Starcraft remaster? Sure whatever buddy…
Perhaps for you, but VAST MAJORITY of people in these forums and in WC3:Reforged Youtube comments MADE IT QUITE CLEAR year ago that we did NOT want the voices of especially Arthas changed. When people heard they used WoW’s voice actor in that Reforged trailer, most people in the comments right away said they wanted to hear the original voice actors.
So im damn glad Blizzard/Reforged team listened to us, even if they would have just used that as an excuse to cancel re-recordings of voice acting and the real reason would have been lack of time/resources. I personally dont find ANYTHING cringy or bad about Warcraft III’s voice acting, but I could say a lot about WoW’s voice acting that you wouldnt like. But each to their own, Im glad I get to listen to the original voices and dont have to endure WoW’s voice actors.
SC:Remastered was $15, and this is $40. SC:R also said it would just be a remaster of BW, while Reforged said it would be expanded upon, specially in story content.
Again not by MUCH…Christie Golden who would have added those story bits into WC3 Reforged made it VERY clear that they were talking only about few additional lines/short added cutscenes here and there, but that the story would VERY much stay the same it originally was. Those of you who expected WC3’s story to be widely different from the original, you really werent listening when they said they were talking about small lore additions.
Also idk where you are from but to me it clearly shows that WC3: Reforged is priced at 30 euros…Spoils of War edition is 40.So while Reforged IS more expensive, I can say that even as it is, lot more work went to Reforged and remaking all its character models. SC:Remastered didnt see as much work in that regard.
More work went into it because the plan was to have all the stuff that now got cut after a year of zero communication. Now we just have a glorified hd remaster, which you could find over the year in fan remakes of W3
Honestly I wouldn’t even call it a glorified hd remaster because you’d assume the graphics is actually good. Hell I don’t even know what this is. I’m at the tipping point of refunding the game right now. Blizzard please say something.
I might just have to pull the plug. It is unbelievable how I went from hype from total absolute disappointment. People can say “iT’s JuSt a BeTa” all they want, just don’t come to me when this is your final product.
Keep in mind that updating every unit model, spell, and doodad, along with adding additional animations to hundreds of these units plus new models for units that originally were simply tinted differently is a massive undertaking. They are also redoing all in game cut scenes, adding walking animations and new gestures. The original cinematics are honestly still very good and are being brought up in resolution.
Blizzard have gone way above and beyond the work that was done for SC remastered. They made the mistake of promising even more then that, which has left people with some disappointment. $30 dollars is well worth the price for all of this imo. Whether or not you decided to pay $40 for the special edition was your own choice.
Wait they aren’t going to redo the old CGI cut-scenes ? or do some story adaptations ? The voice acting I generally don’t care about, but I would like to see what wow changed from warcraft 3.
Though I do think there should be a old unaltered version of the campaign for preservation of sorts.
You need to have the Blizzcon 2019 Virtual Ticket (or if you attended this year’s Blizzcon, you should have redeemed a code for the goodies) in order to watch the panel, if you do have it, go to the Blizzcon official website click on watch and search for the Warcraft 3 Deep Dive panel
Fair criticism. I have not followed anything in past of what bliz shared would be added to reforged. I just focused on multiplayer. (Don’t believe ever even finished campaign, nor is WOW on my radar)
For all those peeps complaining about re-skin only. They are doing much more than that. Its getting the new Bnet integration and matchmaking ect. They will also most likely evolve the game slightly in balance in due time.
For my $30 - its no brainer for uncountable hours of entertainment.
Look at what these “free to play” games are charging. For example look at Mechwarrior online. They want $10-20 for a single in game item. Here you got an entire game.
Or $30 is what? A single meal and drink at restaurant? There is a lot of value here IMO…
They were never going to do all the CGI cinematics. What was supposed to be redone was the in game cutscenes to be like what was seen in the trailer at Blizzcon 2018.
Again they made it very clear that the reason is they want keep everything EXACTLY as it was as far as ladder/pro players are concerned. The limitation could be removed from custom games or even from campaign but I for one understand fully well why they wanted to keep gameplay/design exactly as it was in 2002-2003.
There really aren’t that many CGI cut-scenes though… As well as most of them are short like the d2 ones. I don’t need them to be current WOW quality but many of them are just hard to watch in high resolutions much like the D2 ones.
