IMPORTANT: For Anyone Who Loves WCIII , Please Read!

They didn’t steal anything, just literally every character design concept, interface look and etc. They didn’t steal. Yeah, never

Yeah,Concepts just a little bit similar not stolen at all https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00BOuEKfm1o

Inspiration =/= stealing. That’s like saying I stole from Blizzard if I drew an armored knight with a big hammer. They don’t own that concept. They could have owned DotA but they let it go.

This is like Microsoft saying “Hey you wrote a book in MSWord. So we own that book now.”

They changed stuff and keep changing it. THe ONLY time valve ran into trouble was with the Skeleton King, and they changed him to Wraith King. And because they are actually creative, when they removed the Skeleton King, Valve created a whole event for players to play in, that revolved in the arrival of the newer version.

Also Im glad to see that you avoided the example that I left there about creating stuff using a some company’s tool and they claiming the concept and idea as theirs. Very cherry picky from your part, as expected from you.

No, literally, if that idiot is so adamant to say that Icefrog stole from blizzard, then I want to see this guy watch a gameplay of Battle Realms and dare to tell me that blizzard did not steal the core gameplay concept of that game for warcraft 3.

If someone remade Star wars, just slightly changing character look and a bit of story - It’s still a star wars rip-off
If someone wrote a Harry Potter rip-off with different character - that’s a rip-off
if someone was “inspired” by literally any game model, stole the concept of it,changed the look, left some lines and abilities - that’s a rip-off

Also, here’s some people who were “inspired” by designs as well,it’s not stealing at all

“It’s was a concept,they are inspired!”

Okay then, Arthas is then a rip off of both Arthur and Elric of Melibone.

The first one being a character that finds a mytical sword on a stone that makes him king.
The second being the King of a realm who literally wields a sword that talks to him. Oh and also yes, devours souls.

And since we are at it, Geralt is also a rip off Elric, because Elric has the nickname of “The White Wolf.”

Seriously, if you wanna bring this into a rip offs discussion, then you are gonna lose, in every way possible. First because I personally know more than one source from where blizzard gets the stuff they put into their games.

That’s an inspiration
But if you’re making character look that specific way just because he looked so in different game you’re not allowed to sell - it’s stealing

No buddy, according toyour logic, that’s a rip off.

Made an ispired story for your own character is different that making the exact same character and only then creating his own backstory to don’t get in court for that

Making one character ispired with two another but have a unique story isn’t same as “Hey,Let’s change models from Warcraft Dota into something that looks similar but different”

You do realize that each character from dota has its own story that has nothing to do with the Warcraft universe right?

It was created After the first Dota. A while after.
As much as I remember one of the characters was even called a Nerubian in the first Dota

That was while it was still in the WC3 engine. They changed it when they moved on.

But sure, we can find more example like the most popular that made me cringe so bad that I popped a blood vessel when it happened.

“there must always be a lich king”

Concept came exactly a year later, if not on the same year of another concept from a movie

“There must always be a captain for the Dutchman”

They changed it when they moved on…AKA stole it legally
Yeah, character looks the same and has the same name - not stealing character at all
Like a chinese brand rip off - Change one letter and slightly changed a logo (But basically left the same and call it your own brand

So Blizzard stole from Tolkien then? Elves, dwarves, gnomes, trolls… that was all made big by Tolkein.

You mean Tolkien stole it from different cultures?

You’re almost grasping the creative process. Creators draw inspiration from each other lol.

Lovecraft work with the oldgods, the dranei from other work of tolkien im sure
