Well likewise I dont like the idea of Blizzard giving middlefinger to everysingle one of us Warcraft RTS fans who simply havent had the time or interest to invest in a freaking MMO and all its expansions due to timeframe of 15 years and counting…
Honestly I say this again and again but some of you people simply dont seem to realize it…Warcraft as RTS franchise and WoW as MMO have two VERY DIFFERENT gamer/target audiences to begin with! There are countless of us WC RTS/WC III fans who may have played WoW at some point (myself included), but simply dropped out over the years over various different reasons. And Likewise there are even MORE WoW players who NEVER touched any of the Warcraft RTS games and would have 0 interest to pick up Warcraft IV. THAT is why Ive always said that despite there being people who enjoy both that Blizzard should consider creating seperate/alternative timelines for both or at very least have Warcraft IV retcon WoW’s storyline/evenets heavily by retelling the same events that fit better in RTS format.
Anyhow even if there was more demand for Warcraft RTS game, I think this is the one major reason we are never going to see Warcraft IV, cause Blizzard knows this exact darn thing as well that since Warcraft as RTS series and WoW have such two different audiences, it makes no sense to try to make Warcraft IV for WoW players. Cause while that might get some to try it out, they should know that just like with Reforged, they should listen what the most active of the Warcraft RTS fanbase has to say and design the game from that perspective.
Anyhow you said it yourself, Blizzard has already played with alternative timeline before, there is no reason why they couldnt do it again, and this time it could actually work better cause we are talking about two entirely different game genres, with two quite different audiences. But since there isnt big enough demand for entirely new Warcraft RTS game andn knowing that no matter what they do, they would piss off lots of passionate fans, I doubt they are ever going for it. Remastering old game is one thing, but creating entirely new one with that would create lot of controversy depending on what they decide to do with the story is the reason that I doubt there is ever going to be Warcraft IV, even if WoW one day comes to its end.

What if, and bear with me, Warcraft 3 Reforged could be a stepping stone for that?
Blizzard should just cancel “reforged” reading the forums it seems 90% of the people are no longer interested or only willing to pay 10-15 bucks for better models.
And hence you purists dont want any changes anyway because the game is “perfect”…why bother anymore.
Because most of us “purists” didnt really want anything major changed, other than having new visuals and just pure “visual remaster”?
I for one was ALWAYS open to the idea of WC3: Reforged having NEW content and NEW campaigns later on, but in terms of the original content, I always wanted it to remain as fateful as possible, especially because WoW’s writing/storyline is what it is…pure garbage. But again Im not complaining against the new campaign map designs that we are going to get, that would be more in line to how the world looks in WoW.

Again I wish it could be, but you and me both know that no matter how much Blizzard would try to make it more appealing to WoW crowd, it just wouldnt attract WoW players in huge mass…
MMORPG and RTS, two entirely different game genres (even though WC3 has RPG elements) with two entirely different playstyles and target audiences. Especially when the former’s popularity is hugely based on the social aspect.
You know there is a reason why RTS genre, sadly is such “niche” genre with very particular audience among gamers…and which is why we are not getting that many big budget RTS games these days. And if WoW crowd cant give Warcraft III chance as it is and would rather just watch the cutscenes from YT, honestly what makes you think that Warcraft III: Reforged no matter what Blizzard would do, could change that?

Like I said, and what you just said in a long post in other words, cancel it or make it 10 bucks and just advertise it as a HD upgrade.
You can say all you want but we have been scammed and lied to for a whole year, there is no denying this point so stop trying to do so.

A 40 bucks reskin for Warcraft 3 and a full priced DLC for Overwatch !

The idea of scrapping new voices had to been done early… which is why it was easy to walk back on lol.
Again, an OPTIONAL retcon campaign would be great to attract new players/ones that bought it for that reason… but at this point it’s clear they don’t have the time and resources at this point to do it in sub 2 months. It’s a shame but I rather them use that remaining time to fix the current issues in the beta (animations/terrain/portraits) and optimization so we can actually play HD without huge FPS drops and lag spikes in online play.
The main goal before all else should be getting the best version of the 4 races we have for gameplay sake.
Make it DLC? Idk if they’ll even bother after the game is out. They’ll focus on getting ladder working and just balance changes and fixing bugs after that. Anything else they’ll add is likely just quality of life stuff.

I dont know who that writer is but if its a major writer of the WoW franchise then she sucks and we dont want her touching our beloved memories.

As a diehard wc3 fan, I could care less about the campaign. I played the campaign just to learn how to play. I don’t play Warcraft 3 for the lore and I doubt others do. Most of the level 30s on East can’t even tell you the lore cause guess what no one gives a about the lore or else we’d be playing wow roleplaying about maeiv.
You wow nerds really need to redirect your anger somewhere else. They coulda done both if there was a minority that wanted to keep the 2003 story but just like everything else with reforged they decided to cut corners
Also you think us Wc3 fans wanted female eath knights or female demon hunters? This game was made for you wow nerds. Not us. Direct ur hate somewhere else
The campaign is so awesome and really needs everything to looks better and more better!
