Better example. Your favourite animeis good but because of some plotholes they wanted to remake the show with filler episodes cut but instead you get more plotepisodes to fill in the holes and with better animation and cleary better resolution. Instead they delivered just an fillerless resolution upgrade with screen size now fitting for 16:9 instead 4:3 and new speakers that are way below the quality of the old cast.
I’m actually would be much more happy if Blizzard has stoped taking any feedback outside of balance multiplayer stuff and released the game the way they originally wanted to. Instead of right after Blizzcon 2018 starts asking “Do you like Stratholme? Do you like VO? Do you like Cutscenes?”
And who cut the new cutscenes and promised lore?
Who promised and underdelivered?
Must be the Purists because of their feedback! Even though Purists had nothing to do with promising anything in the first place!
Purists does ruined everything
Blizzard did what a great company must do - Listen to their community.
It wasn’t their fault that they had been given a wrong and horrible feedback
So tell me if they are so great why haven’t they listened to all the people who want new voices and cutscenes?
Because you were too late? You don’t see the glaring hole in your logic here?
Let’s just imagine
You’re a Videogame company. After your first presentation a lot of people, mostly pro players and purists, tells you how bad the Cutscenes are. How they prefer the original voices more and how they will refund the game if there will be any WoW writing.
You,sadly, realize that some content must be scraped,or at least - be not as gloval as it originaly was.
And after almost a year, you finally shown your more close to the original game version…And realized that those who wanted this stuff isn’t a minority but a majority. But it’s too late for you to go back with your decision. So you’ve decided to make something for both
The game WILL have at least 7-8 globally changed missions
The game probably will have new story missions
The game has new VO in some languages
There still will be a new UI and new Graphics
But you’re still complaining about the purists despite the company being the one who decided to cut those things you want in the first place.
The purists only provided feedback. And for that matter, it wasn’t feedback that was directly ‘Cut all the progress you’ve made’. It was more in line of ‘We want to keep it faithful to the original’, which Blizzard agrees with.
And apparantly does not agree with you or the WoW crowd. And if that means scrapping content that was already worked on like the cutscenes, then that is what it is.
So Blizzard really is a great company for doing exactly what they should be doing - listening to the majority. That makes you the vocal minority. So what is the real problem here? You think they should listen to the minority instead? The people who will play the campaign a couple times and leave?
If you don’t like Reforged, don’t buy it. If you think it’s too ugly, don’t play it. You have that right.
Giving feedback and criticism is a good thing. But what you’re talking about is the state of the game that is no longer in development, which is complaining about the past. You already know that this doesn’t get anywhere. You aren’t any closer to having what you wish for by making an enemy of what you consider the majority.
Reforged is a Purist game. If you realize this then you will see why Blizzard is siding with that group instead of remaking it the way you saw it back in 2018. You already know the reasons, you just find it hard to accept because you have passion for ‘what could have been’. But what could have been is nothing but your own expectations, not a fault of anyone elses. Not even Blizzard’s for showing you what was possible. It’s clear that even Blizzard doesn’t think that is the right direction for the game any more, or else they would have ignored the purists and continued making their version of WC3 and just tell people ‘you have the Original campaign to play if you want original story’. Keep in mind that WoW has been developed this way for years ignoring all feedback from the Classic crowd, and only now have they listened to Classic players enough to bring back the original - without any new features at all.
But cutscenes from 2018 was truly amazing…I can deal with Cinematics…I can deal with Graphics…But it’s still hurts that I will never see those cutscenes…
A lot of people not playing campaings ones or twice, but a lot,a lot of times, and don’t you want a better experience for them?
For a lot of people Multiplayer is something unecessary. It’s like a Portal 2 - People will play Co-op mode once or twice, but mostly will prefer to complete the story,to play by themselfs,to feel an emotional moments and see a remarkable characters.
If it really was the be-all-end-all case, then it is their fault if they parsed or interpreted the wrong feedback. They’re the ones with the finger on the trigger.
A lot of people not playing campaings ones or twice, but a lot,a lot of times, and don’t you want a better experience for them?
But you already said - Purists are majority, and Purists want to keep it the same. Your own terms suggest that the better experience is to remove the cutscenes.
If you are not saying this then you are not talking about ‘a lot of people’, you are just talking about minority right?
For a lot of people Multiplayer is something unecessary. It’s like a Portal 2 - People will play Co-op mode once or twice, but mostly will prefer to complete the story,to play by themselfs,to feel an emotional moments and see a remarkable characters.
People today still talk fondly about the original campaign. People do feel emotional about the campaign.
Keep in mind that wanting cutscenes does not mean you will have more or less emotions from playing the campaign. If you are saying Purists are majority, and you think the majority has said they don’t want cutscenes, then you are not considering that the majority already feel a strong emotional connection to the original campaign. You are looking at this with your own emotions in the way, your own thoughts of ‘this looks good’ without considering that it might not be the reason people feel emotional. You feel that way, but the majority feels otherwise. Does this make sense?
And for Portal 2; there is no such thing as a Portal Purist, right? There is no majority of Portal Purists who want to see Portal remade in a certain way. This is incomparable, because Portal itself is a new game and a new experience. If we are talking about Warcraft 4, then yes I want new cutscenes and new voices and new lore. But you must remember - This is not new Warcraft. This is Warcraft 3.
If you don’t feel an emotional connection with the original campaigns, then that is something you have to deal with. Just like watching old black and white movies; if no color gets in the way of your enjoyment then it’s not a problem with the movie, it’s your own personal preference.
Games are made not only for Purists - But also for everyone, the people who played this game as a kid or teen. The people who heard about it from WoW. The people who never played it but was reccomend to.
Is this bad if some people prefer cinematic, animated cutscenes with epic scenes and probably epic fights, over lifeless machinimas?
Games are made not only for Purists
Games in general? Of course not. They are for everyone.
Warcraft 3 Reforged? Yes. The majority who will be playing will be Purists. You already say they are the majority, why are you trying to make this about ‘everyone’ now? In your own words, Purists ARE the majority of everyone.
Is this bad if some people prefer cinematic, animated cutscenes with epic scenes and probably epic fights, over lifeless machinimas?
It is bad if people who prefer cinematics start blaming other parts of the community for not having what they want.
A Black and White movies also have a remasters. Old movies with low resolutin have Blu-ray versions with 1080p. No one is leaving them with old visual just because
Being the majority doesn’t equel being dominant over minority.
Why should Blizzard cater to the minority? Isn’t that the signs of a bad company decision?
If the majority of your fans say they don’t want new voices and you put in new voices, who is it serving?
Isn’t that the signs of a good company to make a game that both sides will like? Not only pros, but casuals? Not only purists, but WoW players?

Yes, and that would be a good change.
Now imagine taking that old movie and not only updating the color, but changing the voices of the actors and changing the story to make it more modern. Would you consider that the same movie remastered?
Isn’t that the signs of a good company to make a game that both sides will like? Not only pros, but casuals? Not only purists, but WoW players?
But you already said Purists don’t like it. So no, both sides don’t like it, you already said the majority do not like it.
I would agree if both sides like it. That would be the best situation. And we have that right now with new voice acting for female DK that Purists seem to be fine with and new people seem to be fine with.
Some actors, visual effects and other stuff has been remastered in OG trilogy of Star Wars. Emperor’s actor has been replaced not only visually, but with voice. Planet’s from prequels has been added in Final Celebration. Vader’s eyebrows has been removed,Luke’s lightsaber changed it’s color. A whole new scenes has been added
Can you say everyone loves those changes? Not at all.
The majority actually hate those changes and are always asking for a new version that returns to the original.
No one likes Greedo shot first. Even the director of Solo admit that they personally see Han shot first as being the true version of Star Wars. I will even go as far as saying that if you like Greedo shot first, you are not a true Star Wars fan.
But also,No one would love to see Emperor’s old voice and design…No one would enjoy Yoda puppet fighting in the Prequels
