Hey thanks for taking notice

You guys removed my post about the spammer on SC harassing everyone constantly, dming them and threatening their mothers.

Does this mean youre going to do something about him? like add a perm ignore option?

Or does it mean you support him and plan to continue to do so?

I mean how can u recieve so many reports on this guy literally threatening your players but remove my post with a realistic solution within MINUTES for violating your community guidelines?

Hey firedank,

The removal was likely due to a forum violation. Weā€™re not allowed to call out others on the forums, no matter what someone is being accused of.

Itā€™s not just an accusation when you can go see for yourself in en-1 any time the past 20 years.
I wont call him out again but if you have any kind of influence with the current dev team can you please pass this along?

It doesnt even make sense for the ignore to be temporary. Why isnt there already a perm ignore option?

Guilt doesnā€™t matter. No callouts are permitted.

As for the ignore function, the gameā€™s development abruptly ended in 2020. So whatever state the game was in at that time is how it is now. And it may remain that way unless development is restarted at some point in the future.

Not being able to ignore this player that is constantly threatening and harassing many, MANY SC players is unacceptable.
Spam DMing them as soon as they log on with things like ā€œyou better not talk for safety of your motherā€

There is no ā€œsuddenly ended developmentā€ on having standards in the industry.
There is no ā€œsuddenly ended developmentā€ on having respect for your customers.

It would be like saying youre not going to patch your sinking boat because the boat was made in 2020.

  1. You know, the /ignore id
    command.
  2. Host your own games with players you like/ dont get harassed via adding friends invitations to players that show a more calmer demeanour.
  3. If you are playing with people you respect a bit, you need to help each other to protect against the vocal violation.
  4. Remake immediately game without that person to shut down the behaviour.
  5. If someone joins your game spelling out over the top stuff, insults, or overacting without points, it may be wise to ban them.
3/7 times this ends in toxicity.
  6. Have your own channel, ban people from there.
  7. Just leave game and join an other one.
  8. Take a break and come back later when they are not around or it doesnt affect you so much.
  9. Create a new id to not be recognized, or change Gateway.
  10. Delog and do something else.
  11. Go play single player or custom game alone.
  12. Use an other multiplayer service than battlenet.
  13. Have some on take all the toxicity from that person, while the rest of the group can enjoy their play.
  14. Remember it is just a game and you can shut down the pc anytime

Thats a huge list for saying Blizz should add perm ignore.

This player is harassing and threatening dozens of people.

Should dozens of people come here and read your list?
OR
Should the company get its head out of its butt and actually care?

Itā€™s not like i didnt offer an easy and realistic solution to a problem thats making blizzard look really, really bad.

@leonix
Look I appreciate the list and its good advice but this isnā€™t just me man. Its happening to alot of people and its really bad.
This guy thinks he owns SC chat and threatens peoples mothers if they talk, saying theyre not allowed to speak in his chat.
I care about SC, I dont want this to continue. A perm ignore will be the best effort to stop him. Bans do nothing he comes right back.

He is walking all over you blizzard, making fools of you. Do something about it.

SC is an old game so itā€™s naturally missing a lot of modern features. That said, SCR ended development over three years ago. So as with any old game thatā€™s not in development, if you choose to play it, you choose to play it as is.

lmao says you. I choose to not give up.

You should definitely revise forum rules.

@leviathan
I look through these forums and see you helping people out alot in here. I dont mean any disrespect.
I just dont like being told no when I know im right you know? The dude needs to be stopped and I have a realistic complaint with alot of support so I plan on calling Blizzard, somewhat consistently.

They need to pay these people and I intend to take up their time when I can until I make progress. They can either pay their workers to put me on hold or they can pay their workers to answer a realistic complaint with a realistic solution.

Remember being young looking for a job and your dad told you to apply and keep bugging them until they get sick of you? Well thats not just for job applicants.

If you want something done you need to push for it or it wont get done. Its a timeless tale: ā€œits impossible, it cant be done, no wayā€ but the person tries, and usually not even that hard, and pulls it off.
If I give up, it definitely wont happen.

Itā€™s not a matter of being right or wrong. Itā€™s just a matter of the reality of the situation. For example, it would be like requesting a new feature in SC2. SC2 also ended development several years ago. How it is is how it is. And itā€™s the same for SC1 (and WC1, WC2, D1, etc).

Iā€™m all for cleaning up bad actors, but what can be done if there are no personnel who can code the changes? Neither the CMs nor Support are developers/coders. They canā€™t open the source code, or make changes, or package, or implement, etc. The entire team that worked on SCR (and SC2) has been gone for over three years.

I totally get what your saying. Iā€™m just pointing out that the game has reached the end of its development life. Thereā€™s no one physically working on the game. Due to its age, it was shelved and Bliz moved on to their modern projects.

Iā€™m not sure where youā€™re getting this notion from, but since the beginning of video games, there are 1000s and 1000s of games that have ended development as studios moved on to other projects.

The thing with analogies is that they have to be analogous. In this case, a leaky boat with human life aboard and video games being out of development are not remotely comparable.

Plus, an old boat with a hole would either be used at your own risk (as is), or not be used at all.

You realize that the bnet app shares the chat with SC right?
All that would need to be done is adding an ignore list to this frequently updated app.

What if by pursuing this during this transformative time for Blizzard that they decide to put a skeleton crew on classic games?

Perhaps theyre not even aware of how bad itā€™s making them look and how bad it is for the game they recently remastered to extend its copyright.
Oh and thats sort of where im getting the notion fromā€¦ The game being recently ā€œremasteredā€ and still onlineā€¦

I also enjoy how you didnt include Diablo 2 in your list of abandoned games. Odd that SC and D2 were remastered around the same time but SC is completely forgotten abandonware.

I will blank:

You are showing a lot of negative behavior as wellā€¦

You just might be part of the problem as well.
I could imagine you being one of those that leave the game when the team doesnt do exactly what you want ā€¦ In fact you already showed this kind of doing, here, in the last comments about this topic. People go play videogames like this one to get out their frustrations about life, and yes sometimes they do stupid behavior like crying with insults in the forums, spelling every racist slur or even threating people like little kids. It is something that happens, but antagonizing the few people that try to help you and pretend like some guy, that in this post we literally have no information about other he is biggest villain ever, will not help.

Either way it is against the forum guidelines nobody readsā€¦

Only people on your friends are able to chat with you through the launcher, thus thereā€™s no need for an ignore. You simply remove them as a friend, or be more judicious on who you add.

To confirm, I logged into SC on two accounts, neither are friends with the other. I tested in the multiplayer lobby, in the game lobby and inside the game itself. No chats showed on the otherā€™s launcher.

MS will likely use the same market analyses that Bliz used when they decided to end SCā€™s development. Additionally, with the big announcement of the layoffs that MS just did to ATVI, thereā€™s even less chance that MS is interested in putting resources into under performers. The layoffs were wide sweeping. There were entire departments eliminated.

It was remastered over six years ago, and ended over three years ago. Thereā€™s no ā€œlooking badā€ as itā€™s an old game which will have antiquated systems, just like any old game.

Is it, though? Or are you just presuming that both have equal performance projections? That SCR has the same revenue potential as D2R? That you think that Bliz just flipped a coin and SCR lost?

Again, I get it. You donā€™t want SCR to be out of development so that your feedback can be incorporated. But your arguments/rebuttals are indicating that you donā€™t deal in, and therefore donā€™t understand, the business practices of corporations. Products are discontinued in every industry to make way for the new and improved moneymakers. Itā€™s not odd at all.

Enjoy? Why would you enjoy seeing it? Now youā€™re starting to appear that youā€™re just grasping at anything to use as a rebuttal. Did you not see the ā€œetcā€ in my reply?

First thing
It means that the chats are connected somehow. It shouldnt be so complicated
SC actually has an ignore option, it just resets when you log out. Why not just store a file in documents ezpz

Second thing
In a way I hope bnet shuts down because I am confident a private server will be superior.
SC has a super loyal fanbase and 25 years of indie games with sites like scmscx defending their history.

Third thing
Sort of the same as my last comment. I think the time for bnet has passed.
We have alternatives like Shield Battery that support remastered and something like it for UMS is in a prototype state right now which will have remastered EUD support.

Remember they did refresh the games copyright on this, to me that is an important thing to note.

Fourth thing
Ya I know but like I said before if you dont try you fail. I have done quite a few amazing things in my life because of this attitude.

Fifth thing
I enjoy it because I know how much more important Diablo 2 is and has always been to Blizzard than their red headed stepchild StarCraft. Even after all this time.
and ya I saw the ect i was grasping in that one but it amused me lol

Itā€™s not:

Super loyal and size are two very different things. SCRā€™s fanbase is comparatively small against WoW, OW, D4, CoD, D2R. Even the RTS industry flagship SC2, and now even D3ā€™s community sizes arenā€™t enough to keep them in development. And with SCRā€™s community being smaller than those two, it doesnā€™t bode well as the choice to restart development. Again, market analysis and revenue projections dictate corporations.

I havenā€™t been against trying. By all means, everyone should post their thoughts freely.

Iā€™ve only been managing expectations. Itā€™s an very steep uphill battle due to 1) thereā€™s no one working on the game, with little evidence that it will be picked up again any time soon, and 2) no one from Bliz is manning the SCR forums anymore, and hasnā€™t for a long time. SCR never had dedicated CMs. Instead, the Devs communicated directly with the community. However, all of them are long gone.

Well, naturally, yeah. For the exact reasons Iā€™ve explained a couple times already.

Idk I see the bnet app updated all the time, it doesnt seem like a complicated thing to me to have someone change a 1 to a 0

About managing expectations idk, im feeling that if i bug them for some time I have a decent chance of making it happen. I think you would be surprised how much they hate being bugged.

Also btw id argue the flagship is Broodwar, especially in the eye of a pro gamer

AGAIN, thereā€™s no need. Chat in SCR doesnā€™t share with the launcher. If someone you donā€™t want to listen to is coming through your launcher, remove them as a friend (or donā€™t add strangers in the first place)

AGAIN, thereā€™s no one here to bug.

No one likes to see their games get retired. But itā€™s hardly a ā€˜badā€™ business practice; itā€™s normal evolution.

I have to assume that youā€™re not fully reading my replies because youā€™re just leading me in circles and I canā€™t keep restating things over and over.

So Iā€™ll just reiterate my only two overall points and leave it there: Iā€™m all for everyone posting their thoughts. I only came here to explain the current situation to help manage expectations.

EDIT:

Maybe in the past when SC2 didnā€™t exist yet, but the past isnā€™t what matters. SC2 is the current industry flagship. No other current RTSs have the notoriety, prestige, competition and membership that SC2 has.

Oh ofcourse SC chat and the bnet app are connected. How do you think friend messages come through the app when someone /w you on starcraft. friend list or not is irrelevant.

I certainly dont mean hanging out here and bugging you LOL I plan on calling them.
They need to pay customer support, they dont pay their forum mods.

Im not leading you in circles, you just havent proven anything to me. I dont believe that SC magically runs with noone at the wheel on a macintosh in the janitors closet.

Im not even gonna entertain that last thing you said, its jibberish.

.
oh if this is true
ā€œmarket analysis and revenue projections dictate corporationsā€
why tf did they remaster SC in the first place? It was simply to renew its copyright.
