Can't load SCR anymore, "Game is running" but it's not

I could play the game using this method. But all the graphics were back to the original one without the new Remastered graphics. Could someone tell me how can I fix it?

Should be able to press F5 to toggle the HD graphics. Thereā€™s also a setting in the Video options to enable the graphics.

In general we do recommend launching our games directly through the Blizzard app. Weā€™ll get the info added though as it shouldnā€™t be hanging like that from the StarCraft shortcut!

Update on this issue, our team was able to fix this issue and weā€™ll be pushing an update for this in the future. Weā€™ll let you all know when the update is live :slight_smile:

Until then, please continue to use the Blizzard Application to launch Starcraft.

Here is how I solved the problem: First make sure original SC is not running in TaskManager. Then go to Documents\Starcraft (same directory where Save and Maps, etc are) . You will see: CSettings.json. Remove the file from the directory. (donā€™t worry your progress in the game will not be erased). Launch SC again and R version will load.

update You need to do this everytime before starting the game until the patch from Blizzard is released. :man_shrugging:t4:

there is no ā€œreset game optionsā€ under starcraft, only starcraft II

Same here. All started a few days ago with a game update. Bad patch? Blizzard working on this problem?

Hi to all,

Having the same problem here. As someone told earlier, the Game Setting Reset doesnā€™t exist in SC. Iā€™m happy that a patch will fix the issue but the reality is the following, Iā€™m still having the same problem but with ā€˜ā€™ Game is running, An update is available and will be applied when the game closes.ā€™ā€™ So since I cannot close my game, I cannot install the patch that is suppose to prevent it.

I will appreciate any help.

We just released a hotfix 1.22.4.5959 that should resolve this issue. Please restart the Blizzard app and ensure you pick up this update before retesting.

Closing this thread as the issue should be resolved with the hotfix. If anyone else is still running into this issue letā€™s get a new thread going :slight_smile:
