just hit lvl 15 so i get my mastery points back. I normally run 30/0 healing; 30/0 wurm cd; and 30/0 gene mutation. I’m a decent player so it works out fine for me, but I also love optimization, so I’m wondering if the people who have more xp with Dehaka (I normally play aba/nova in coop) have found a setup that works better.
I’m thinking of going 15/15 for the devour, because the thorns from eating massive is excellent as is the psionic. I will almost always eat a full hp thor because i generally run mass mutas (with ultras late game) and clumped mutas get rekt by thor AA. The healing is overall lackluster without eating bio units, so this is about as balanced as i can imagine for the skill i generally just use for farming (or removing aoe dmg).
The primal worms I generally use as an Oh Sh1 button, if i forgot to guard mine or allies base against ghosts trying to paint the hive red or if a stray unit trickles through, so i like the greatly reduced CD. The packleaders are great at clearing waves and pushing, so I may swap it to 15/15.
The attack speed almost seems wasted, since anytime youre fighting air units, the boys wont be able to smack up until they hit 10, and ground can be dealt with easily enough by kiting with roar and leaps, and fire breath at 6, so the gene mutation chance seems like a better bet across the board, but it says the 30% is additive, and I don’t know what the base % is.
If you have lots of xp with dehaka or play with people who do, provide me some feedback. Thanks for reading and response. Gonna go slap rocks now.
I think it’s more of personal preference than an optimized choice.
Set 1
Devour healing vs bonus duration
I go for bonus duration. 30
The devour healed you for 5% of max Health each time it was used. If you devour a bio unit, that will heal you an additional 20% for a total of 25%.
When devour bio unit, you get a 15% bonus of 25% which is 3.75%
If you devour a normal unit, you get a 15% bonus of 5% which is 0.75%
Assume you have 2000 max health, that’s 75 and 15 bonus healing.
The bonus duration seems better for me.
Set 2
Wurm vs Pack leader
I go all in on Pack leader. Worm is good but i need a pack leader to push objective and base. I always go for detection at lvl 5 so wurm is not really needed for me as detection.
If you usually push with wurm then it is a good choice. I myself am not that good at wurm so i go for pack leader.
Set 3
Mutation chance vs atk spd
It depends.
Mutation base chance is 20%. Long ago it was multiplicative so it was 26%. Then they buff the mastery from 30% extra muta chance to 60% and it became 32%. I didn’t remember when it turned additive but it should be 50% chance if you go for that mastery.
This set is again personal choice. Late game vs early game.
30% attack speed allow dehaka to kill bunker, photon cannon and spine crawler faster in the first few minutes.
30% muta chance gives you a stronger army.

If you want to optimize them 30/0 0/30 0/30 is your set up.
Devourer healing amount benefit more. Optimal play means you’re devouring during low HP (near red). This constantly give you continuous buff from each devour. And as such duration is always refreshed, thus making duration mastery useless.
Packleaders pack a far stronger punch than GWs. This is a fundamental flaw of set 2’s non-competitive nature. While each summon definitely does the trick of wiping things clean even without duration mastery. The extension allows you further clear maps, especially true for Glevig and Murvar.
Lastly, post gene mutation’s change from multiplicative to additive, this is regarded as the better choice. Each possible mutation is calculated separately. So this meant that you’ll always get 1-2 mutations generally speaking. Whereas the attack speed of Dehaka is so small that (again, the power is coming from proper devouring timings and not straight up attacks. Dehaka’s DPS scales with level. So while attack speed may increase DPS slightly, the bigger benefit is from levels. Again, prior to change this was better but post change not so much).

I go Devour Heal, Pack Leaders and Gene Mutation.
Not really related to mastery, but has it been confirmed if the healing auras stack or not?
Yes, Healing Aura from Dehaka and Zweihaka can stacks.
