Terran has Battlecruiser, protoss has tempest, zerg has? Broodlord takes way too long to tech to. Zerg is missing an early harassing capital ship, fix this by making broodlords hatch tech.
Or, alternatively, we could make the BC and tempest actually require you to be in the lategame before building them.
the fact that some terran build 3 units sometimes (2 marines and a tank) for defense before a BC just shows how broken it is… no one should be able to defend a base with 3 units. but they can.
If an infestor can be created prior to, or at the same time as, the enemy capital ship, then just take their capital ship when it appears at your base.
It actually does good work vs Marines. 2 base proxy Tempest with shield batteries as you get charge and a bunch of zealots/stalkers at home is pretty effective vs Terran. Forces Terran to get Cyclones and pray they can kill enough Tempests to prevent the Cycloes and Vikings from being 1 shot…because once that happens, your only choice is to base race.
To be fair with the BC, they should give Zerg a flying unit with 550 hp, 3 base amor, an undodgeable ability that does 300 dmg, a teleport ability, and a way to fully recover its health for 25% of its value, and ofc this unit should arrive at a moment when Terran only has marine without any upgrades and turett to defend.
Then give the other 2 races a t1 8 range aa unit that generates a mule or chrono, can heal everything and spawns invisible structures that grants speed buff and vision for just 150 bucks. kk? ty!
I feel the tempest is a bit stretching the situation a bit. Tempest harassing builds used to work, but with the more maneuvrable tempest (before the nerfs, just after it was reworked to 5 supply) and when the maps heavily favored the build. Personally, the last time I have had a tempest in my base it has been from very cheesy proxy battery rushes.
On the BC, although it can be debated heavily wether it is balanced or not and I am not going to take a side here, it is very frustrating to have the enemy end tech capital ship in your base at 5 minutes in.
Ok but remove the ability to shoot up for thors, Carriers, WM, archons, sentry, cyclon, and make marines/stalker T2, apparently it’s fine with zerg, and as you’ll have the “OP” queens to defend no problem right ?
I propose that when loaded into overlords, queens can fire and transfuse and drop creep tumors from within the overlord. Queen defense is now flying, immune to anti-ground (liberators, banshees, etc) and are mobile creep factories that can spawn creep anywhere and everywhere.
Obviously these will be used not only for defending vs harass (a single patrolling overlord could thwart most forms of attacks) but could be used as potent harass that kills workers, addons, and spreads creep in the most inconvenient areas.
To truly make it like the BC, there must be an upgrade like yamato that drastically boosts the queens ability to trade efficiently in harass and battles. I propose a 150/150 upgrade that increases the range of transfuse to infinite. This will give zergs the ability to do low-commitment harass just like what the BC can do. Ultralisks will now be able to penetrate into the most heavily fortified terran encampments, killing tanks and workers and marines, and then walk back out without a scratch.
Alternatively we could make this upgrade cause overlords to perpetually spawn creep, even if they are moving, to further bolster the new “harass creep” mechanic - zergs will be able to bring overlords with their armies so that their armies are always on creep, no matter where they go, and to drop creep tumors on-the-fly as overlords patrol around the map. Hit-squads of overlords could move into enemy bases, drop loads of creep tumors, and retreat with transfuses, thus giving zerg the a form of low-commitment harassment.
Since Terrans have two forms of low commitment harass (medivacs, bcs) both that are a form of free units, I propose that Zerg receive both the infinite range transfuse mechanic and perpetual creep spawning overlord, locked behind separate upgrades. The cost of the upgrades should be tuned so that zergs can rush out these options from 2 bases while staying equal in economy and tech with a terran who is on 3 bases.
People outside this game laugh when I tell them something like this is normal. It’s become an accepted norm within the community, but when you look at it from an outside perspective, it makes absolutely no sense
