This Purifier personality was created by splicing Tassadar’s memories (recovered by Rohana) and Zeratul’s Ihan crystal. The mechanics were originally for a Zeratul concept I posted on the old forum, but I decided to recycle it for a new character.
Original SC2 Forums
Faction Features
- Hero Unit- Zeradar (Purifier Archon)
-(Psionic Storm)- Can slowly move to hit more targets
-(Void Prison)- Traps a single foe. A great way to remove hybrids from a fight.
-(Holographic Decoy)- Create a copy of an allied unit. All damage against that unit type is transferred to the decoy. Best used on heroes or valuable spellcasters.
-(Astral Wind)- Heals nearby allies
-(Resurgence)- Zeradar can pull himself back from the brink of defeat, but not too often.
- Follower Bonuses- The Zeradar hero unit is modified by the forces he controls. (detailed in unit section)
- 100 Supply Limit- Zeradar can only control a limited army by himself. He desires to prove himself worthy of his two progenitors so he has declined the aid of other Purifier champions.
- Workers cost no supply- Zeradar makes the most of his limited supply.
- Warp Prism- replaces pylons. Upgraded with a phase shift ability that protects the Prism from all damage while it is powering a structure.
- Nexus Reactor- Zeradar can quickly produce probes and warp prisms from his nexus without getting choked up.
- Cybros Mothership- Zeradar can summon a mothership for a short time so long as he has spare minerals. The mothership’s primary role is on demand mobility via mass teleport.
- Unity Protocol- This allows Zeradar to make a follower bonus permanent. This process overloads and destroys the selected unt type, so Zeradar must have ample production to replace his lost units. Unity Protocol can be used mutiple times and the effects will stack.
Units- Zeradar commands all of the unused Purifier units.
-
Instigator- Creates a holographic decoy of itself every time it blinks. Zeradar’s own decoy gains increased hp.
-
Dark Templar- Assassins that do bonus damage to heroic units. Upgraded with Phase Walk ability, allowing DTs to walk through allied units. DTs increases the damage Zeradar does to heroic units, especially those caught in Void Prisons.
-
High Templar- HT channel their energy into Zeradar’s Psionic Storm instead of casting it themselves. HT can cast Lightning Orb on allied units (which shocks nearby foes) and feedback on enemies (which also reduces the cooldown on Zeradar’s abilities).
-
Phoenix- Can overcharge its weapons (even while moving) for a short burst of damage. Every Phoenix boosts Zeradar’s anti-air attack.
-
Void Ray- Prismatic Alignment will activate whenever Void Rays hit an armored enemy. Each Void Ray increases the damage of Zeradar’s basic attack.
-
Tempest- Every tempest increases Zeradar’s attack range by 1 and applies a slowing effect. The Tempest attacks also slow their targets down.
-
Oracle- Detector with an available stealth upgrade. Oracles increase Zeradar spell-casting range.
Thanks for reading. I look forward to any suggestions on how to improve this concept. One alternate (and ambitious) idea I had for this character would allow the player to choose any two Protoss commanders to create a hybrid playstyle, but I think that idea might be too difficult to balance.

I like the idea here, seems like a solid mix between Alarak, Fenix, and Art/Vora.
The hero buffs based on present units is a very powerful mechanic, and the numbers involved will have to be very carefully tweaked, but i absolutely love it. It would be the only mechanic (besides Fenix’s heros) that encourages/requires a mixed army.
I don’t strictly agree with using the Cybros Mothership as purely a taxi. That ship (in LoTV) could purify an entire planet, and from the sound of things this commander will have ample mobility anyway.
I’m always a fan of giving non-terrans some of the WOL upgrades. Nexus Reactor sounds exactly like something i’d expect from the purifiers – also a fan of the increased utility of the nexus after the early game, which is something we’ve been lacking thus far.
Question: is the supply generated by the warp prisms, or does he start with his 100?

Maybe warp prisms could be like overlords: they cost no supply, and actually provide supply.
Then, he would not need pylons, instead producing warp prisms for supply and deploying them around the map for psi power for buildings.
Would be interesting and a slight tweak to the standard Protoss forumula. In your concept you already have them produced at the nexus, and the nexus even has two production queues, so it should be feasible to build probes and warp prisms without affecting build order too much.
Edit: saw that you already mentioned prims replace pylons. So I assume what I typed above would be true.

Overall I really like the concept. I have a few suggestions:
-Maybe have an upgrade to allow phoenixes to attack ground units. This was a cut ability from a campaign variant and it would be cool to see it come back.
-is the Cybros mothership a little too similar to the death fleet calldown? I would almost prefer the mothership as an expensive, but permanent unit. Perhaps mass recall on the mothership would be better than mass teleport, since in order to utilize the mobility you have to plan ahead and keep the mothership separate from your main forces. Maybe one other support ability could round it out.
-Maybe have some other cybros-inspired top bar abilities? I feel like Fenix find of missed the mark on this, and Zeradar could be a chance to show what kind of (support powers the cybros station could provide. I like that zeradar is the main source of power for this commander, but perhaps just 2 top bar abilities would be nice.
-Limit army supply to 50? Since zeradars units improve his hero, he might be viable with just 50 supply, and it would really make the player consider which boni are needed for zeradar. Considering workers cost no supply, there would actually be a comparable number of combat units to nova. As far as I could tell, zeradars units would have standard stats, but the hero would be far more powerful than nova. So I think the commander strength would still be quite high.
-what skin set do you envision for the commander? The more grey/white color used by Fenix (ie warchest), or the orange/white used in the lotv campaign, in the purifier levels and by Karax? The nice thing is the units you have suggested are not used by Fenix, so Zeradar could just use the remaining warchest purifier skins.
Overall a cool concept!

I like these ideas. 50 supply limit is particularly interesting.
To clarify a few things I wasn’t clear about before:
-Warp Prisms provide supply
-Zeradar uses all the Purifier War Chest skins that Fenix doesn’t use.
-The Mothership will have more abilities than just mass teleport, but I’m still trying to decide what abilities the will work best for the Mothership and Oracles. One option I’m considering is making the Mothership a cross between Nova’s Griffin calldowns; It bombards a target area then summons your whole army to clear the stragglers. The other option I’m considering is having the Mothership modified by the army like Zeradar (but without Unity Protocol).

I feel like this accidentally fits Tassadar insanely well, and i’d sort of prefer him to this random new character.
I feel like you could focus more on hallucinations/decoys, though? Like making his units more expensive/powerful, but beefing out his troops with illusionary units that deal very little damage and are just replenishing tanks

Honestly, this seem pretty close to a full Daelaam Commander. It’s just missing Tal’darim units.
Personally, I don’t think it really fits. I do want a Daelaam Commander but not like this. The units seem kind of underwhelming.
What I like least about it is the “Commander” itself. It’s not based on a known character. I have no attachment to it at all. I’d honestly rather have Urun or Mohandar than “Zeradar”.

Zeradar is the Archon pet from WoW. Is the overlap intentional?

‘Zeradar’ is something of a fan name for the Tassadar/Zeratul Archon. It’s a unit in Starcraft 1, but is unused, suggesting them sacrificing themselves to merge was considered at some point.
In any case, it’s absolutely not based on a known character. It’s based on two.
