Well for people who already mastered Zagara this is no problem, but for people who is growing zagara there is a problem.
Low level Zagara is weak as heck even in normal level.
Well shoot, even other low level commanders and deal with Brutal but not Zagara… (not sure about Tychus, Zera, Stett and Mengk)
I watched her Talent… it is a mess.
So here is how I arranged it.
- Relentless Swarmer
- Infested Drop
- Scourge Upgrade Cache < Inject Larva (this allows zagara to quickly gain air strength)
- Zergling Upgrade Cache < Scourge Upgrade Cache (Zagara Zergling quickly needs to get some strength)
- Baneling Nest: Birthing Chamber < New Unit: Bile Launcher (This allows Zagara to get some edge in early stages)
- New Unit: Bile Launcher
- Inject Larva
From here Talents may go normally.
Besides why is Hunter Killer at the top of the selection list? I cant properly cast corruption on enemies.
just change her current level 2 with level 7 and she’s done in my opinion
I think she is the worst thing to play, normal was difficult. No units, no defense, just a mess.
It’s been awhile since I leveled up Zagara, but I remember her being not too shabby for Normal and Hard modes as I was leveling her up. However, TBF, I’ve only previously played the following COs prior to her: Stukov, Karax, Swann
That’s why inject larva is so low level, get 3 hatcheries and a queen, hotkey your hatcheries and keep those ling banes coming. Use Zagara and her hunterlings against air.
Never play her on defence, she’s all about hitting fast and hard and nonstop…

I wish queens can Autocast larva, I’d rather make more Hatchery than waste my time controlling each queens

But her basic units are so ineffective and vulnerable. They need these upgrade as soon as possible to make them playable.
You want unplayable? Level up Stetmann. You don’t get access to Super Gary until level 15, crippling your entire early game.

You can Que inject larva with the shift key. And 1 queen is good enough for 3 hatcheries. Also you don’t have to optimise your queen usage, just doing it every now and again helps.

Stettmann was hard indeed, almost as bad as Karrax before 11.

Strettman is not hard before 11. All you do is mass Hydra all game until you get access to infestors.

The whole point of the commander is to have cannon fodder units that suicide, and then resupply almost instantly. They don’t need to be tanky when you can replace them anytime. Play zagara aggressively, her army is not supposed to roll over a base in 1 go, but destroy parts of it with short downtime between attacks
I was like lv 2-3 with her on DoN and I ran out of resources. 5 Buildings left. Cannon fodder did no damage and was expensive.
lv 15 is something completely different. Up to like lv 10, shes lackluster at best.
Get your upgrades. They last the entire game.
I can see two possible problems here.
- Zagara isn’t as good on sustained def, so this map will be harder for her than others.
- You took too long to finish the mission.

Looking over Zagara’s talents again I can see her power spikes, but she’s not missing her key requirements:
- Fast early eco
- Baneling barrage and HK to soften enemy.
- Lings morphed into banes.
- Scourge are available.
Perhaps people are throwing lings at the enemy or playing on a difficulty level too high for their skill?
I have her longon lv 15 now, but on levels 1-3 this thing was literally hard on normal. W mastery it is different, and I am no nub lol. I was with an ally that camped the whole game and didnt march tanks out during the day to offset my low lv.
Ah, okay, so he was expecting you to carry him. Yeah, that’s especially hard for poor Zagara in that case. Rather than a problem with Zagara’s power at lower levels, I’d say it’s a problem with random queue - you just get unlucky sometimes. With a decent ally you should have had no problem clearing DoN before night 4.
