Your GOAT Top 10 player list!

because zerg has no options except defend until late game or all in. and zerg all ins are easily held with something like 2 tanks or immortals. gg zerg lose.
every time zerg has anything remotely strong in the early or mid game it gets nerfed to the ground.

Yes and no.

Zerg all ins can work, but with a slightly different style.

Generally they require some sort of setup. Stuff like a proxy hatch in opponentā€™s natural vs Toss followed by a baneling bust or roach/ravager all in as a counter-attack.

But yes - Zergs are very fragile in the early-mid game due to how they are forced to maintain more bases than T or P. They compensate for this with a powerful lategame and the ability to tech-switch on a dime.

Thatā€™s why it so hard to balance zerg.

Innovation, maru, a few others I can really recall right now.

So to sum up what we have right now:

  1. MVP
  2. MC
  3. Nestea
    XX Maru
    XX Innovation
    XX Serral
    XX Zest
    XX SoO
    XX Stats
    XX Classic

I understand Inno and Maru should be close on their position.
Let me know about the order, or if someone else should be in the TOP 10.

Also
Runner ups:

  1. Life
  2. SoS
  3. Taeja or Polt

Lets us know if we need like Top 3 or Top 5 Runner up, as just: honorable mentions.

Maru is a lazy patch terran who abused crap like proxies to succeed by your logic.

Maru did mass proxy during one season. Season Terrans just died without proxy.

He was established way before that. And is still relevant as one of the best terrans. He may not win great things nowadays. But no terran really does.

He is being very good since WOL.

Boxer is definitely the top player in terms of impacting the game - I started playing SC1 in 1998 and heā€™s play was such a beautiful thing to watch once the matches were put in Youtube.

Itā€™s funny how nowadays you can earn so much by being an eSports player - in the early 2010s, many Finnish players turned to poker instead as the figured you can earn more money there. One of those players who was in top 10 of Finnish SC2 players become an absolute top poker player winning millions and investing millions in Tesla stock. I wrote a small biography of him - he is known as Fiilismies and was playing SC2 with nickname Namutin.

  1. Maru, only true sc2 Bonjwa. Won 4 GSLā€™s in a row and has been one of the best in the world for 10 years.

  2. Serral, completely dominates Europe as well as GSL vs. the Worlds, but I need to see him play in a GSL Code S.

  3. INnoVation, has won a premier tournament every year for a long time, is consistently one of the best and is a 3 time GSL champion.

  4. Classic, easily the best Sc2 Protoss. Won a GSL, as well as reverse swept sOs in the second 2018 Super tournament. He also won the 2019 GSL Super Tournament I.

  5. Life, despite hisā€¦ poor decisions I canā€™t deny he is the best Zerg to ever play this game. I do have him below Serral because of matchfixing which caused his career to be cut short. Easily could have been the GOAT.

  6. Zest. In 2015, he was arguably the scariest player in the world. I think Zest deserves to be in the top ten just because of how insane he was in 2015. He is still very good right now, but has fallen off.

  7. Rogue. One of the greatest zerg players ever. He has won 2 GSL Code S seasons, both in the last year and was the 2017 World Champion. Only reason I donā€™t have him higher is because he never truly completely lost his mind, heā€™s been VERY consistently in the top 4 for years.

  8. Stats, best defensive Protoss to ever play, Won a GSL and made the finals 4 times. He is extremely consistent, basically the Protoss version of Rogue.

  9. MVP, while he definitely wasnā€™t nearly as good as anybody else on this list, He was the best player in the world for the first few years. He won 4 GSL Code S, one World Championship, as well as 3 Code S runner ups. He was the guy when this game was ramping up in popularity.

  10. Dark. I firmly believe Dark is currently the best Zerg in the world. He won a GSL and a GSL Super Tournament last year, as well as got second in the 2020 Super Tournament 1. Not to mention that he is also the reigning world champion. However, his all time results arenā€™t as impressive as every one else. I do think he can easily climb to top 3 all time within a few years.

This is JUST for StarCraft 2 players, which is why you see no Flash, Jaedong, Boxer, Rain, or other Starcraft greats.

Great GOAT, I wouldnā€™t only argue that Serral would be lower in the GOAT. For 1 absolutely want to see him in GSL, as you said.
Second, 2020 was pretty weak performance so far, compared to the last 2 years.

But everyone has his own GOAT here.
