Wtf is up with the Cyclones? Asking for a friend

I am a High Master team play user on Asia server and it is impossible to win vs mass cyclones. My clan has came to the conclusion that in order to win a ranked game we all must switch to Terran.

Even with having a highly stacked 4 player team (2 GM in 1v1), we cannot win any game vs 4 terran that mass hells/clones.

TTTT > PTTT, ZTTT, ZZPP, TTPP, PPPZ, ZZZP, ZPTT ZPPT

Please Fix!

Be careful, bro ! I complained this bug a few days ago and was deemed being offensive and got temporarily suspended
just as winter, pig and many said, we should just let ladder players get screwed no one should care about ladder players !

Main problem with Terran that they have units that has no real threat. They have to make them op to give them more reason to exist.

What is cyclones threat doesn’t have one. No reason it exist. AA but it kills everything any slight weakness by over running with lings, hellions.

This game just gotten pointless because council team Terran bias and at this point they need sc3 to might balance this crap

The cyclone is bugged. its dealing extra damage at the moment and they havent fixed it.

Yep. It’s also targets rocks over units sometimes too.

It looks like some people will need to relearn how to play against this version of the Cyclone.

Surrounds and flanks work as a general strategy. Most units will beat Cyclones if the Cyclones cannot retreat. Pulling the targeted unit out of range also generally works, since it significantly reduces the Cyclone’s damage, and this version of the Cyclone has a fairly long downtime between lock-ons.

For Protoss, you generally want Blink Stalkers, Phoenixes to lift the Cyclones, or some guaranteed damage from long-range units.

For Terran, you generally want Siege Tanks, Liberators, or concussive Marauders. Cyclones can outrange and avoid Marauders, but only one or two Cyclones at a time can reasonably lock-on when doing that.

For Zerg, you really want Brood Lords , Infestors, or some other means of stopping the Cyclone’s movement or interrupting its lock-on. Otherwise, you need to flank/surround.

Cyclone is currently bugged, has 25% faster attack speed than what it was supposed to when locking on.

So basically, stay away from ladder. Nobody bothered testing the patch it seems.

Specifically, the behavior (CycloneLockOnCooldown) still has the wrong cooldown.

The problem started with team game players spamming the same broken build on repeat every game and that’s especially true for premade teams. Reactored cyclone already was stupid good since you couldn’t catch a terran player off guard but with a tech lab requirement you definitely can.

Interestingly there isn’t even a description in the tooltip how much damage should cyclone actually do with and without magfield accelerator. Currently without it deals 500 with accelerator it is 750. Not sure if this is intentional.

It should deal 400 without magfield and 600 with magfield.

Okay, hot take: I agree that the DPS needs to be brought down to what it should be, and the lock-on to cloaked units issue needs to be fixed. HOWEVER, I don’t know what it is, but something about this bugged cyclone feels better than it ever has. The lock-on mechanic actually feels like a unit that is fun to micro. I usually build one or two in TvT and TvP, and either the lock-on range feels better or the lock-on cooldown feels better. Maybe one of them can stay if it’s not OP?

It’s funny, I actually thought this as well, I might get burned at the stake for this, but OP cyclones is still better than filth rushes in bronze lol

I just had a fun thought, now I can finally be a cheesy dog as random. If you get Protoss you cannon rush, if you get Zerg you nydus worm, if you get Terran you 1 base cyclone. That might still be the hardest lol.
