It looks like theres at least one more slot for a new commander, and it’d be nice to have some new missions as well. really just any love for co-op again.
Unfortunately, no.
Sc2 was retired (ended all development) almost four years ago.
That fateful announcement was on Oct. 2020
And if we were to get new COs, I would like one from each race for the sake of symmetry (curr. have 6 from each ). The “one slot left” is meaningless in the sense that they can always rearrange the boxes. Back when Coop started with only 7 COs, they made the boxes really big to have less empty space, but still had empty space nonetheless. As we got more, they’ve been split across 2 rows to be as even as possible
I wanted to see Niadra make it in there somewhere. Dr.Narud, Selendis, General Warfield, Valerian and Donny vermillion could have been interesting too.
I would’ve liked to seen Kate Lockwell, or some CO that’s generally weak, but can utilize the assets of other COs not in use! Some subset of their top bars, units, heroes, passives, buildings, etc.
Overmind is another. Return to Creep/Sunken/Spore Colonies, and elite Zerg that require Cerebrates to birth. CO is also structured on having Cerebrates around.
Last but not least, some CO that can summon uncontrollable Terran units. We already have that with Zeratal’s Legions, and Mengsk’s enthralled Zerg.
Thats really sad to hear, thank you for letting me know.
100% agree.
The day it was announced I was super bummed. Of all Bliz games, SC2 is my favorite.
I was hoping to see Tosh as a commander.
Sort of a blessing in disguise. I expected Sc2 to have its plug pulled. However, I’ve been told keeping it running is the cheap part. The expensive part was the developers’ salaries, which that got rid off.
Contrast that to other Blizzard games… Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Warcraft 3, Overwatch 2, Sc2 is at least in a good place (even though, yeah, it had a few more good things to come)
Tosh, Valerian, heck even a UED Commander will be added in the co-op roster.
I was hoping we would get more community patches to coop but I guess even that was hard to pull off by the coop boys.
Last time I talked to Tangor, he was working on some more bug fixes. But he also mentioned that it’s not easy and thus time consuming. He was having trouble finding time to commit to it.
Blizzard shut down SC3 development for Overwatch 2, and the development team left in response to make Stormgate. Based on info we had Valerian Mengsk was going to be the next co-op commander and Niadra was going to be the last Commander. Niadra would have been ether the Villian of the next gmae or we would have played as her (be the villian) in the next game.
Ill never forgot how they basically full EA with that game. Who knew there would be a time when I actually missed lootboxes.
I wouldn’t expect him to. It’s not paid and time consuming as you said.
I changed my mind, the first thing I would want is an adjustment of experience points, particularly for prestiges.
After 2 months of tinkering around, I finally had an opportunity to make some real progress on my prestiges and played really heavily this week, about the most that I could. And it was only for 2 million exp. Playing so much also made me start to get sick of SC2, and co-op is feeling repetitive now. I think a more sustainable level would be 1-1.5 MExp/Wk for me.
After consulting an exp chart, I found out that it’s 1045k exp per prestige, or 22 games on brutal with all optional objectives completed (although the last game is only worth ~5k exp, meaning the first 3 games can be done on Hard and still finish in 22 games). Back in the days before prestige when you only went 1-15 once and then you were done that was fine. But now that you do it 4 times per commander, that length of time really needs to be examined more carefully. 22 games is just too much, especially when that’s only for the highest difficulty. If you need to tone it down to Hard then it’s 27 games, and I shudder to think of the tedium inflicted on people who actually play Normal or Casual.
I was planning on buy 2-4 more commanders, but these prestiges just take so much time I think I’m just gonna stop after the 1 that I already bought, because getting a new commander is just too much work when I factor in all that prestige time! Fully Mastery is about 18.5M Exp, meaning that fully leveling & prestiging 5 commanders is more experience than Mastery 0-90. Not to mention Mastery is done with all maxed commanders making it much easier to play maxed difficulty and get mutation exp bonuses.
One thing I was thinking, if they continued with the pattern from levels 3-9 (i.e. going up by 5k per level, starting from 40k at level 3) then the total to reach level 15 would only be 930k exp. That’s 19 Brutal games (about 15% decrease). It doesn’t sound very different, but with prestige you multiply everything by 4 so the difference adds up. And you’re still getting the same 14 level ups, meaning the number of games where you get nothing measurable drops from 8 to 5, about a 40% decrease! Those games where you get nothing are the biggest morale hit, and their quantity is greatly effected by small adjustments in the amount of exp required.
Obviously, while I’m burned out I think it should be cut even further (16 games per prestige sounds about right), but once I recover I think I will settle on 19 games as a “good enough” compromise.
This is more important to me than any other content adjustments/additions, because leaving the exp requirements as is negatively affects my rationale for purchasing new commanders. I don’t see that being the case for any other content adjustments/additions.
If they could make changes, they may as well bring back the option to purchase XP boosts. I remember when Mengsk first came out, I was able to fully level him up in just one, full day’s of playing (so about 7 hours?) because I had +100% XP bonus (50% from the Stimpack via Commander Bundle, and another 50% XP Boost via Warchest)
It’s too little too late for me now since I’ve went through all prestiges, done with Mastery, and at lv1K. I guess I may be persuaded to do so on the Europe server, but I’m actually fine at letting that go. I’ll stick with Americas to enjoy the fruits of my labors
here is an idea: scale experience requirements based on prestige level. for example add a 0.5 reduction to required experience on prestige 1 and then increase it by 0.5 per prestige.
then of course they should add more prestiges. activision however is not willing to invest in strategy games and blizzard is owned by activision.
Looking for NEW co-op content? Try nexus Co-op, 10 NEW commanders & 1 new map!!! it’s amazing the amount of work they have put into, totally blown away & having so much fun learning all the commanders;
Technically they are actually a single company (activisionblizzard) and owned by Microsoft now.
my raynor, kerrigan and artanis that previously were at level 15 are now at level 5. Anyone else have this issue after the 10/30 update?
