I realize this is dead on arrival, but I’ve recently started playing the hell out of Co-Op (got some friends into it, too) and we love it. Obviously the primary 3 heroes are included (Raynor, Kerrigan, Artanis) but I love the others, too.
What makes no sense to me, despite SC2 not being in active development anymore, is that whenever general Blizzard discounts popup (during the holidays as an example) Starcraft is still lumped in there. They discount Starcraft: Remastered; they discount the expansions; but they won’t discount their ridiculously overpriced heroes for Co-op?? Had they dropped the price on those heroes to say, $2, I probably would have bought all of them. My friends said the same thing. I’m sure Blizz ain’t making much from SC2 anymore, but if you are going to discount the game in any capacity, why leave out your hero roster?
What’s really frustrating about it is that I purchased Wings of Liberty back at launch, I purchased Heart of the Swarm when it arrived. I come back a few years later after a bit of a hiatus, the game is F2P, which I think is awesome. But I bought into it before all that, and as far as I know, there was no gift to the OG Starcrafters. Maybe I’m wrong. I would have LOVED getting a few of those Co-Op Heroes thrown in as a gift for purchasing the game before it was F2P.
Anyhow, this is just me complaining out loud. Thanks for listening, surely some of you feel the same? I’ll never understand why companies will stonewall on prices when it seems like a bit of a discount would most likely result in more revenue, particularly when it comes to older products and especially digital products! Maybe it isn’t even that complicated, maybe they just forget about the nuances of SC2 and fail to discount the heroes. I just want max level Dehaka.
its cuz blizzard and the sc2 team doesnt cares about there players and their game anymore, i suggest to you and your friends stop playing the game and get into another one. maybe someday bizzard will care about us
there is no sc2 team. the games basically been abandoned and on life support from the community for the last 3 years now. the pros are the ones doing the balance patchs.
I’m sorry, matechmol, but the lack of a sale on the commanders is your basis for thinking Bliz doesn’t care about their players and game? That’s rather weak and lazy.
For starters, the commanders are already inexpensive. That said, SC2 itself does get periodic sales through out the year just like the other games. So it seems Bliz does indeed care for the game and the players.
Next, you may not be aware that SC2 was retired over 4 years ago. Meaning it’s going to naturally be deprioritized compared to the actively developed games. There are much older Bliz games that don’t even function because Bliz retired them long ago which need community made patches just to minimally function. But, despite SC2’s retirement, Bliz still does provide basic support to keep it minimally functional for us. That also seems that Bliz cares for the game and players.
Next, Bliz has allowed the players to contribute to the game rather than shutting them out. The multiplayer balance patches and the coop bug fixes have all be made by the community and allowed to be applied to the game by Bliz. Again, seems Bliz cares about the game and the players.
No, you seem to be misinformed, or are just ignoring reality so you can feel justified in your criticism. Because, it’s clear that Bliz does care to a fairly decent extent.
As for your “advice”, matechmol, again no. Let people come to their own conclusions without trying to poison them before they have a chance to decide. Especially so when people are just asking about sales, for example.
You suggested a discount to $2 per CO. Compared to $5 per CO, that’s 60% off, which is hardly “a bit of a discount”. For the rest of the 15 COs, that’s $30 vs. $75.
Also, it seems to be something that’s commonly spouted without much thought. More sales doesn’t translate to more revenue (esp. when you’re suggesting more than half off). People assume that if you discount something say, 50% off, that you’ll get double the buyers. Sc2 Coop is “niche enough” that sales would probably be marginal, so they’d be losing money in this case!
Doubt it. They didn’t completely forget about Sc2 Coop mode b/c whenever we get showstoppers like Raynor-Kerrigan-Artanis being capped at lv5 (again), somebody does resolve that. When we had the “lv0 bug”, they worked on that too! I’m told that if you select a username/handle that’s controversial (ie. racial slur), they will be on that ASAP.
However, they just won’t do anymore content. Paid, or otherwise (despite the announcement back on Oct. 2020, we’ve had 4 years to draw from that that also included unpaid content as well)
Then pay the $5. I understand people all have different financial situations. One person claimed he couldn’t buy them even if he wanted too because he’s in a country where something happened with the payment process (I forgot exactly what the issue was TBH)? For the rest of us, $5 (USD) shouldn’t be that big of a deal.
I suspect that they won’t discount them anymore for the following reasons…
Anybody who wanted them would’ve purchased them by now. As opposed to asking about sales/discounts first
It’s only $5, so it’s better to be patient and make more money in the long run (see my comment in the first paragraph)
Nobody’s around to even do what’s needed to discount them. They have far bigger fish to fry it’s not worth any man hours/resources to do so.
what winter said. And the commanders are just a standard race with a unique hero with bunch of new units or calldowns added. That said they are marketing it as F2P but I ain’t paying 15USD for that.
That ended up being Sc2 as well. I really wish we could get figures for CO sales. I know people have been waiting for sales and will continue to do so. But I figured they had many takers too. At least for $5 apiece
That said, while I can’t say I wouldn’t automatically pay $15 apiece for SG COs, I wouldn’t necessarily be turned off by it either. This day in age, I don’t mind taking off my “stingy cap” if it’s a game I like, from a good company. However, these days, time continues to be the bottleneck. I thought I’d be done with Sc2 Coop, but I still fire up games every now and then. At the very least, once per week for the weekly Mutations.
coops fun if you havent played it for awhile but after you blow through missions for about ten games you realize why you stopped playing it, cause its the missions over and over again. this is why i stick to team games, at least with them, you never really know whats gonna get thrown at you, including the tking teammates, noobs who dont know how to play, and trolls that try to just ruin everyones day, even with all that teams are still a blast.
They were also available when we had them Warchest events. It was neat because that, plus the “[XP] Stimpack”, would stack, so you’d get +50%, and then another +50% bonus XP, for a total of +100%! I was able to to fully level up a CO from lv1 to lv15 in just a full day’s of playing (8 hours IIRC)!
