So I’ve gotten curious about why there are so many IIIIIIIIII barcode players. When did it start and what do you think about them? They’re often pretty rude to me. Just an observation.
Barcoding was a thing originally done by pros as a sort of collective “We could be anybody in the club” sort of deal to help prevent people from researching their strategies and build orders by tracking their match history on the ladder, or from blind countering them by recognizing their opponent at the loading screen. Regular ladder players copied them because they wanted to be “cool” like the pros.

most of them are too lazy to think up a good name so they type barcodes.

at a high level of SC2 it’s usually:
Hackers using an alt so their main’s don’t get banned
Streamers trying to avoid snipers
Pro players using smurfs
