Why Nova's Automated Refineries are more expensive?

Zerg Extractor costs 75 minerals in SC1.

37.5 per unit. For unlike the Drones of other commanders, Zagara’s Twin Drones cost 50% more minerals and morph 50% longer, but need less Zerg Control (supply).

Right, fixed the mistake. Thanks.

No it costs 50. And when you add 50 for the drone, comes out to 100.

All gas refineries are expensive compare to Zeratul’s. XD

Until you run into that one friendly player that lets you use an extra geyser. Now that’s an expensive refinery. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

The 25 minerals is just ~3 seconds of mining time, on a commander that is practically never starved for minerals. If anything need to change about it I’d rather have the build time reduced.

The biggest reason to like her refineries is the part where they save you 3 supply each, which is a lot with only 100 supply. Zagara would only save 1.5 supply each extractor if they were automated, and for her a much more beneficial change would be to allow her to ctrl click splitterlings. A pair of splitterlings do 1/4 the damage of a whole baneling, but still cost the same amount of supply. The only reason you’d want to keep leftover splitterlings around is because they make good killbot fodder.

Your point of supply limit for Nova makes it more reasonable.

Bud you can look it up on wikipedia.

Because they’re automated, you save a lot of money and supply by not needing to use SCVs to harvest from them.

Think about it this way, a normal Terran refinery is 75 minerals plus 150 minerals and 3 supply in SCVs in order to be fully operational. Nova’s Refineries are a flat 100 minerals to build and be fully operational. So over the course of a normal Co Op game. Nova spends 400 minerals for 4 refineries. Raynor meanwhile spends 300 minerals plus 600 minerals and 12 supply worth of SCVs for the same 4 refineries.

That also means that Nova spends less in terms of SCV build time when ramping up because every SCV she trains goes immediately into mineral production while other Terran CO’s need to devote some of their SCV build time to harvesting gas.

It’s super basic math here. Nova’s refineries end up being FAR cheaper in the long run. Anyone that can automate gas production like that (Vorazun, Zeratul) gets a big benefit out of it.

Today I tried to go full air Nova P1.
Conclusion: Refineries efficiency (income/cost) suck too much, must be improved.

Nova P1’s over-production has always been an issue. You, as the player, do definitely get about 50% more of the ‘chosen’ combat unit, but that is generally limited by resources (unless you picked something as mundane as hellbat or marines).

That is strictly speaking from a time frame to time frame basis. From a practical point of view, your pushing force is not that much stronger. Why? Not because it isn’t stronger, but that the enemies aren’t. So it is an unnecessary added strength to deal with the same army, which was getting mowed down anyway by Nova.

So what P1 end up being is actually just a fun little prestige where you can mass a unit of your choice (or units I suppose, although that puts even more constraints on your resources).

Nova gas Income is not a big problem, quite balaced for me, the problem is Zeratul need to be nerf abit to be fair, his commander OP, unit OP, Structure more OP, moveability OP, nothing downside about it, NERF it xD

Guess human or higher rank species have develope a technology to transfer gas wirelessly, except zergs.

Nope! His cost 400 mins for the Ancient Nexus. Nearly all others can build them for only 75 mins each, or their equivalents

You may say 250 instead of 400, due to economizing 75*2 with the first Nexus…unless it’s Dead of Night, in which case it’s 100% free.

An interesting side effect of being separate is that you can, and usually should, take expo gas first with Nova. You can also easily take an ally’s expo gas when offered.

Nothing more satisfying than to get/give your main gases as Zeratul to Nova or Vorazun. It is just the best perk.

It’s an equalizer. Her units are extremely powerful. They are more expensive and slower at gathering because of that fact. It’s to equalize how OP she is. You honestly don’t need Gas anyway. Just P3 Nova. Game over, man. Game over.

No? You would have to spend that 400 anyway to expand. So… Free.
