Why I've uninstalled StarCraft 2 and why I doubt I'll return; an open letter to the devs

I wouldn’t know about high masters back then. I knew pro games and I know baddie plat league. I didn’t get respectable at this game until a few seasons ago.

Doesn’t shock me that Zergs didn’t use PB enough though.

Tankivacs might not have done insane damage but they were near impossible to deal with. Those things were infuriating to deal with.

Adepts 2 shotting Marines was about as dumb as stim timings in WoL, which were blatantly imba and could only be held using 1 or 2 builds. So welcome to how Protoss felt for a few years, for a month or 3.

I have the replays somewhere on my computer. If I find my favourite game of LotV where I mock my high masters Zerg opponent by asking him how he feels about 40 minute games I’ll post it.

No, they never used it. They thought they could win with pure corruptor.

Never felt like that to me. In TvT I’d just make vikings when I reached the number of tanks that would keep me safe.

There was a build that could hold adept pressure and not come out behind?

Fast Marauders held Adepts and came out evenish but God help you if you went Marines vs 2 shot Adepts lol…that’s a great way to throw a game! Overall because of how integral Marines were I felt it was a little busted, it’s not like how days where you can kind of sort of open mech to avoid the problem of early game Marines being a joke.

Since 2013 Terran players have had to open with a reactor and a reaper to both identify stargate play and then to be able to hold it. You couldn’t go for pure marauder and if you mixed them in the marauders didn’t really do any damage to the adepts. The way I remember people trying to counter it was by rushing tanks that had no utility outside of defence.

Marauders also took next to no damage from the Adept so it worked out fairly well.

It was really bad synergy for the bio. You could just kill the marines or go after SCVs. Tanks were similarly tanky against adepts but they could actually dish it out and were more able to keep up with the shades due to their increased range.

At the time, if you went bio vs Protoss, it was a losing proposition unless it was mass Marauder. Adepts made Marines a very bad idea.

I think in higher numbers it was fine, marines clump more so the damage density is higher. Also it was just that pre stim and pre combat shields that was a nightmare.

I remember one game, I went Tempest Adept…guy went for a good 40 marines and 4 medivacs…used shade to spot for Tempests and I’d stagger my shades…it was savage lol.
