Facts don’t care about your feelings, man. If you disagree with the facts, then you are wrong. It’s that simple. The facts decide the truth, not you. When Protoss have a 61% winrate in general, they are overpowered, period, end of story. Protoss couldn’t win premier tournaments even when they had huge balance advantages, and that means there are big differences in skill between the top protoss and the top zergs/terrans, and literally all the evidence confirms this conclusion.
When Protoss is already overpowered, and you are saying to buff Protoss even more, what do you think that will accomplish? SC2’s popularity plummeted last year during Protoss’ dominance with carriers and void rays. It’s probably never going to recover. Your need for free wins does not outweigh the health of the game. It doesn’t, sorry.
If you plot Protoss’ numbers in GM over time vs number of games played over time, there is a negative correlation between the number of Protoss in GM and the number of people who play the game. Ergo, when Protoss is overpowered, people quit the game. This trend has been going on for quite awhile now.
Balancing the game around premier tournaments was a huge mistake. The game should be balanced around the people who generate the revenue source that makes the game economically viable as a business, and we should celebrate Serral and Maru for being the phenomenal players that they are, rather than trying to detract from them by crying about balance.
Hard abuse of the word “facts”. You’re rendering bad conclusions from random statistical values that have next to zero correlation to tourney wins. That’s the number 1 thing they teach in stats to avoid, otherwise bias paints whatever picture you want. I mean the spin is pretty wild here: The entire Protoss player base doesn’t win tournaments for years, so therefore Protoss is overpowered because (insert random ladder stats) also the game should be balanced around revenue. My man if that’s your baseline there’s no reasonable convo to be had here. GG
My man, you’re talking to a guy who builds statistical models for a living. You were given charts that only an experience statistician could generate. But, that’s not required to know that you are wrong: a simple confidence test on either the win-rates or on the GM representation would prove that the correlation with protoss and performance is so astronomically huge that it’s statistically impossible for protoss to not be the cause of the increased performance.
Furthermore, 6th grade math is sufficient to rebut your claims that premier tournament outcomes are the result of balance. Have you heard of the interquartile range test? That test alone is plenty to prove that Serral etc aren’t just outliers, they are the outliers of the outliers, and they teach the IQR test in the 6th grade.

Interestingly I’ve had very similar conversations with a few flat-earthers before. Like them, you’re not presenting facts, you’re rendering opinions and trying to twist them into facts via verbiage, random stats, or some other articulation. The conclusions you’re reaching and how to balance the game are simply irrational, point blank.
I have to wonder if these people have eyes for crying out loud. I am watching this game between Serral and MaxPax, and banes are crashing into stalkers and there isn’t a sentry in sight even though Serral has no ravagers.
Is it really too much to expect a champion-tier protoss to be able to understand the basics of unit composition? I don’t think it’s unreasable to say that this quality of play shouldn’t even be in the finals of a premier tournament.
When I look at this game, I see overwhelming evidence that Protoss is overpowered, and that’s inline with what the data says, but they see a Protoss playing terribly and go “Zerg is OP! The data is wrong! My own eyes are lying to me!”. It’s bias incarnate. If bias could condense into a physical form, it would make a protoss whiner.
You can’t warp in high templar reactively. If you see that he has no ravagers, you can warp in a couple sentries. There were a lot of instances where he could’ve gotten the base snipe if he simply had 2 sentries. You just block the ling bane with 2x forcefields and right click the hatchery. The stalkers blink out or recall, the sentries are picked up in a prism.
Instead he was just taking banes to the face. The fact that people are upset that he lost to Serral is just an egregious example of bias.
as a D3 Zerg (European server if that matters), can I just say that no Protoss at my level plays like that. No one tries to use storm on me, DT drops are almost unheard of, harrass is completely optional, the only thing you do see are lots of archons. Almost everyone plays 3 base Immortal, Archon, Zealot and Stalker pushes or turtle into mass carrier.
I’m Plat 3. All i see are Carrier rushing idiots that turtle until they mass 5 carriers and then dominate the game, while i try to scramble something resembling a response. Thors, Vikings, Marines… nothing works, really.
Or the classic 1-base 3 Void Rays i’ve also come to see a lot. Protoss are just ridiculous.
If its only Carrier then its pretty easy to counter for terran. Watch Heromarine and ask him. He will say/Show you that you can easily do that with marines medicac and Ghosts. With Ghost you can emp the interceptor and Ghosts also have Bonus dmg vs light (interceptors are light) meaning you kill every single interceptor in No time.
A year ago or Something Like that Heromarine showed exactly that in the unit Test map.
There would be at the very least Chargelots camping under them. Or if Protoss players knows what he is doing there will be 2-3 Colossus or even Disruptors.
Even worse they gutted protoss completely AND they kept buffing terran NON STOP… Terran is so beyond broken now I’m VERY HAPPY that Stormgate is actually coming soon because Blizzard turned my ALL TIME FAV game into absolute dog doodoo…
Dont know or care who or what does balance at this point but these people are clearly so biased towards Terran and against protoss its a hard to take these people seriously cuz they’re about as clueless as people can possibly get!
Bring back the David Kim days that man actually had a brain something thats clearly missing from current Blizzard in general.
