I think we can all agree that in retrospect David Kim messed up StarCraft 2. Bad.
But I find that the game has largely reverted back to David Kim’s StarCraft 2, perhaps even worse in some aspects.

Infestors never get nerfed adequately…you can’t have combat spell casters that have answers to everything…expecially with Fungal Growth. That ability is overpowered and terrible design.

Queens make Zerg ultra safe early game. Almost any kind of aggression can be deflected with a few queens and spines/spores with either minimal damage to the Zerg economy or none at all.

Unlike DK’s reign of terror, Protoss is objectively bad right now, outside of getting a nigh free 3rd due to charge. This is because the Protoss tech tree is a god damn mess. Protoss detection is a joke. Their harass options early-mid game are jokes, outside of the standard opener double gateway cyber into expand (making 2 Adepts and sacking them for worker kills) or weird cheeses like proxy Tempest/SB. RObo tech is almost auto lose vs any kind of air because Stalkers are freaking garbage at their role (the only GtA Protoss have that’s not an Archon or Storm)…I could go on for ages but yeah, the Protoss tech tree is a mess. Both Z and T can exploit this…which brings me to…

Terran have too many harass options that require vastly different responses as well as units which specifically make playing Protoss a nightmare. Ranging from Widow Mines doing +shield damage, which should not be a thing (bad design and it creates very lopsided battles) to Liberators (these things are basically a big middle finger to Protoss due to the Stalker being so bad at GtA that it’s often times a liability when there’s enough Liberators, nevermind the Tempest which is a bad unit that throws games because it’s awful vs bio while being too expensive and too high up the tech tree to adequately deal with massed Liberators) or how one of the only options that Protoss has to deal with MMM+libs+mines, Storm gets hard countered at a higher range by upgraded EMP. Or my favorite…Interference Matrix. Does the dev team understand how blatantly overpowered Interference Matrix is in TvP? Protoss RELY on lynch pin tech units to keep them alive for certain timings…if you disable those units in a timing, the Protoss dies. No ifs ands or buts. If pros start figuring this out and abusing it more often there’s no options for the Protoss other than cheese…or to go mass gateways and pray for a win since lynch pin units aren’t viable…
Overall I’d say StarCraft 2 is in the worst place it’s been at in years and the balance team has got to step it up…a lot of bad decisions have been made these last few months and that has got to change.

Dev team needs to get it together.

Terran have way too many harass options that require different and extreme reactions. Additionally some of these options are exceptionally low risk and high reward (widow mine drops).
Protoss design is so freaking bad that I’m amazed people still play the race. I could write a doctoral on the subject…
Terran get too many “screw you Protoss” abilities and upgrades which makes the issue of bad Protoss design even worse.
