Why don't people understand that 2v2 is not 1v1?

Because team games are toxic and why in the world would I want to depend on someone else being competent? I want my wins and losses to be entirely dependent on how well I played; not how well my ally played/our capacity to synergize because those are factors I don’t have 100% control over. When it comes to competitive, high skill games I loathe the idea that I have to depend on another agent’s competency as I have no control over that.

That’s the beauty of playing 2v2, you have to carry you team mate to victory. In most cases being utterly impossible.

It’s in blizzards BEST interest to create a team-play oriented RTS if they decide to make another one, solo games are biting the dust pretty heavily in the e-sports scene.

I"m pretty sure this is why I went 5-0 in my 1v1 placements. I’m so used to playing 1v2 that 1v1 was easy.

lmao… me too… :stuck_out_tongue:

Because everything you do in life depends on someone else being competent. Even if you play 1v1 you are hoping that the balance team is competent so you have a fair fight.

I love any type of game since my goal is to have fun and not win. That is why I prefer team games, since everything is a bit more random and chaotic to keep things fresh.

Nah, balance only affects people at top 16 GM/Pro level. If you honestly think that you’re losing because of balance anywhere below that point you’re just deluded.

Obviously as I exist within a society I am somewhat dependent on other people, but in a video game I want that to be as little as possible. That’s why I only play single player games and 1v1 games. It’s cool that other people like being dependent on others in games, I just can’t get into it. Why would I want to handicap myself like that?

They won’t. RTS is always balanced around 1v1. If you want team oriented games go play a MOBA.

Idk I’ve been top masters in 2v2 plenty of times. Every single time i pretty much ignored my teammate, even got teammates to rage at me many many times like “wtf are you doing” and leave, the amount of diamond and master games I won after my teammate leaving is insane. You don’t need teamwork, it’s just another skill you can grow. Just like in 1v1 you don’t need any specific skill, you just have the option of growing them.

And imbalanced, I once won against a top master+gm (in 1v1) with a silver team mate (i was plat), they were double zerg and we double toss, and they got protossed. Any of those players would destroy me in 1v1 with ease.

I’m pretty sure they will. Blizzard goes where the money is.

Because they see 2V2 and assume that just means they take out one and their ally takes out one.

That’s the core problem. People see 2v2 as 1v1 + 1v1…it’s not, it’s 2v2.

Phoenix tank into chargelot/cyclone into Carrier/Raven/Sentry + Thor/mine/hellbat, absolutely devastating (AA missle + Guardian shield provides a massive Armor imbalance)

2v2 is very casual, and literally nobody plays it seriously

There is no beauty in carrying dead weight, anyone pretending team games are competitive are simply enjoying the mental comfort of having a “teammate”.

If you want to play a team game, PLAY A TEAM BASED GAME, to demand a 1v1 game caters to your delusion is plain stupid.

19 games 5 wins diamond 1v1. You don’t play or take 1v1 very seriously either.

in my experience players who are ranked higher in 1v1 will also carry their team in team games. also as far as i know ling bane muta doesnt counter mech or Phoenix so yeah that was stupid.

I am of the opinion that if you are not master or AT LEAST d1 in 2s, you shouldn’t have an opinion regarding 2v2, because that is where the actual game-play starts to feel a bit competitive. I honestly prefer 2v2, and playing mainly 2v2 I have gotten much better at 1v1 because of improved game mechanics / counters / reaction speed. People very seriously (in my opinion) underestimate 2v2 at a higher level. I personally prefer it to 1v1 and rarely blame my teammate for a loss, because there is always something I could have done better to win the game, even if I needed to 1v2.

Two things. #1, this is a smurf account, on which I worker rush most games.
#2, I’ve played over 1200 1v1’s this season. I’m not suggesting I’m high on the ladder, but I do take 1v1 seriously.

Do you really think I got diamond 1v1 in 100 games?

High level 2v2 lmao, is this thread some kind of joke? Nobody cares about 2v2. This is hilarious, I got my popcorn out for this thread. In what world would 2v2 require more skill than 1v1, the game isn’t even balanced around 2v2 and it never will be. So many threads on 2v2 and Blizzard hasn’t touched 2v2 in years, what makes anyone in their right minds think they will touch it now?

Jesus christ dude, calm the hostility. People are allowed to have their own opinions, that is what forums are for, no need to completely disregard it. Understand and try be open minded.
