Why do map designers do this?

For the life of me I can’t understand why the main and natural bases have so much space around, that sky units like tempests can abuse, and ground army can’t even attack, because there is no ground there!
This happens both 1v1 and also in 2v2 !

It is like map designers don’t care at all, or they want cheesy play 99% of all matches, I just don’t get it, I don’t understand!

It is been 15 years, and since the first 2-3 years of SC2 (when maps or even worse, granted the game was new back then) there was basically no improvement in maps the last 10-12 years! (but if you go back 4-5 years in tournaments, you can see some maps that were even better than what we have right now!)

dont blame the map designers. blame the dumb protoss design.

I played against a 1 base tempest rush on El Dorado. I went around with my marines and kept cyclones at home and just destroyed his main. EZPZ l2p champ.

First of all when your marines reached his base, you probably don’t have have half of your buildings! (that tempest upgrade is no joke)

Secondly, he simply recalls destroys your army, and then goes and finishes you off with whatever stuff you have left, that is the 99% of cases!

Bragging about defeating a protoss who can’t use recall, what is this bronze, league? Even at bronze league, SC2 is so old, you probably see some protoss players use recall!

Maps that benefit this playstyle is a good thing. You should be complaining about the greedy toss players that take a 4 minute third and just outscale you through macro. Watch those players try to do anything else and it looks like a joke.

Hate to break it to you, but it is not considered greed anymore, 4 minute third is considered pretty safe, and you can actually even defend all ins, with good positioning!

The 4 minute third is safe because you have to match greed with greed in this patch. Unique maps are the way to push more interesting builds like a tempest rush.

Doesn’t matter the reason, the problem is it is safe, and it is way earlier than the terran’ 3rd, and basically is almost the same as the zerg, which is insane!

That is why you see protoss and zerg with the same supply, and obviously protoss will trade better most of the time!

It is actually a big problem that was never before, but because this has been for the past 1-2 years, everyone accepted this as the norm, which is so wierd for me at least!
