Hi. Why do lag spikes seem to only occur in big battles? Is there a way to fix/prevent them from happening?
Upgrade your PC. Maybe turn your graphics to low.
Big battles use more resources than small battles.
Decrease graphic settings (particularly shaders I believe?).
Players in higher leagues usually play on lowest graphics and before tournaments play Arcade game “Unit Preloader”, which prevents freezes when, for example, Mothership arrives on the battlefield (common lag for me, similarly with Brood Lords I believe?).
K i had good hardware so half problem the connection server or just sc engine who not capable use more then 2 threads at once
I recently started putting (almost) all settings at maximum.
I was looking for a way to reduce heat, rather than lag, and found out all those little options did nothing regarding that.
What really worked was decreasing the game resolution, and it does feel it may have reduced lag too, though I still meet some lag sometimes, but I suspect it come from the server trying to keep players in sync.
Also something I did a long time ago against lag was reducing the number of sound channels (or something else related to sound)…as strange as it may sound, it was quite effective back then, haven’t tried to revert it for a while though, so maybe it may have come from buggy/non-optimized behavior that got fixed at some point.
there are rumors about lag cheats
basically when you are zerg or protoss, and you see terran army approaching, you activate it and battle happens during the lag, and you win since neither you nor your opponent can control armies.
There note lag happen in 00:30 second in begin of match
Yes that’s a good point. I noticed lag occurs at like 15 seconds in the game then things settle and then happens again during the largest battle. I just don’t understand it.
I feel like it’s the engine of SC2. Because Im seeing even streamers who have high end computers are still having lag issues when facing big battles.
Would not streamers have an incentive to play the game at a maximum resolution and maximum options, since it’s for display in the end?
And it 16 threads processor lags lol
Also your HD settings can do it as well. If power saving is enabled it can shut down drives when not used, then if SC has to either read or write to a file (for whatever reason) it can cause a lag spike as the HD turns on. So you can try turning off your power saving settings.
Serverz are degrading
