Why can't we block the maps we hate?

It would be so easy for Bizzard to let us blacklist the maps we hate the most and it would give them great (and automated) data about what clicks with people and what doesn’t. Even if not a blacklist, maybe we can just stick it on the back rotation (only showes up rarely). Anything really so long as I don’t have to listen to that annoying Gen Davis talking about her stupid mech anymore.

They can but they won’t. Been discussed and always in circles. In the end still no veto, end of story.

Pssh. Screw that. How do we start a petition? And when that fails, let’s do it again. And again. And again. Until they get a clue. Worst case, what if we all agree to just quit missions for the shart maps?

No idea. You’re welcome to though.

Because “Random” is an incentivize mechanic to help the Queue go quicker. It is not for anything else.
When you select “Random”, you have signed up in that draft and therefore do not have any right to complain about what map you are gonna play.
The best you can ask Blizzard to do is implement 2 “random” buttons: One random button where you get to whitelist/blacklist maps but no Exp bonus and one pure “random” where you get 25% exp. However, it would cause some confusion.

You could have one random button with vetoes…if there are no vetoes random gets 25%

(it would be good, but does seem unlikely they will do it…and in the worst case, just pick the map you want)

Don’t they have this exact function for 1v1 matches? Besides, you could easily implement the idea of two random buttons like you said with the default being the full random so nothing changes unless someone (like me) is motivated enough to blacklist their worst maps.

In 1v1 matches the description is “these maps will be selected less frequently when searching”. That means you can still very well get them, it’s just like a lower chance / percentage of getting them. While this might be implemented in coop too, it certainly isn’t BLOCKING maps, removing them from queue, like so many people want.

Well anything would be better than what we have now.

Its all about money.

Adding a veto function costs them money, and earns them nothing.

Quite the contrary… as someone said, queue times would become longer overall, but for the maps that most dislike it could become really bad. So they would either need to replace them with better maps, costing more money or risk some people get upset and leave… again costing them money, because less people buying stuff.

Same reason why there is no veto for random commander picks… It is just to annoy you up to the point that you buy and level all commanders pouring more money in their greedy pockets.

Blizz is a business… a big one. And big businesses have one thing in common: their religion and their god is money. Just look at what they did to the Hearthstone player in Hong Kong… nothing less than disgusting.

Unless that petition of yours gets enough people to cry, who together could have a noticeable impact on their income, it will have no effect at all.

Actually getting everyone to do it is it’s own problem.

1v1 doesn’t let you choose map, coop does.

the only map that I absolutely cannot stand is cradle of bs. the most congested, annoying, badly designed map in the pool. can’t walk two feet in any direction without bs constructs attacking you. it feels like a chore to play this one. usually if my ally doesn’t leave at the start, I leave. so yeh, +1 to having a choice for vetoing a map.

Cradle, artifact trucks, and that gawd awful Valius mission with Col Davis or whatever her name is. I hated her long, long before I got the Nova expansion and found out who she really was.

Screw that bargaining. They should just add vetos without lowering XP.
I think people are only suggesting a hit to XP is because they think it’ll make Blizzard more likely to do it.

No I Want there to be a hit to exp. Random no veto speeds up matchmaking. A veto should at the very least decrease the exp bonus (or eliminate it).

Let go the hate and everything will be fine for you.

Every map is one someone likes, even CoD has people who like it. If there’s no cost to not playing the maps one doesn’t like, then those who like them simply play them less as well.

Do they deserve to get an xp hit just to be able to play the map?

Having no cost to limit the maps chosen by random shifts the cost to those who want to play the less popular maps.

I don’t think it does, given how many people will just opt to not even use random because they can’t veto maps.

If you give people veto power, more people will pick random. More people picking random means a lower wait than if people are picking the map.
