Why cant vikings attack spires, baneling nests and dark shrines?

if viking can attack collosus why not dark shrine? hmmm?

the buildings that vikings should be able to hit are: baneling nest, spire, greater spire, dark shrine, maybe zerg players could even proxy spore crawlers to snipe each others tech.

it makes sense but, vikings can switch mode to attack them. if however you suggest that phoenixes gets the ability to attack them, then you have a better case.

I think he want made that only for terrans

That would actually be hilarious if a Terran strat was to just scan around the Zerg base to find the spire and then send in a squad of vikings to snipe it.

because of the height it would make sense just like with col, but short answer no because it’s a building and we don;t need mass vikings/phoenix/corruptors sniping dark shrines and spires.

how is adding new strategies breaking the game.

  1. You’re not adding a new strategy, you’re changing game functionality that brings room for new strategies, this is an important distinction.
  2. The functionality change would give a disproportionate advantage to Terran as they don’t have “tall buildings” and will always have viking tech
  3. Having high speed air-to-air units be able to fly over an area and snipe tech structures would be OP, it would be done every game and there wouldn’t be much that could be done to counter it if you can’t mass air yourself.
  4. Each race already has fast moving air-to-ground units that could feasibly do this. Muta, Banshee, and (now) the Void Ray.

Collosuses are larger than any of those buildings that’s why.

spire does for sure, i think dark shrine is a bit shorter.

it would certainly force protoss and zerg player to build defenses around their tall buildings. not that i myself ever use dark templar but, i do use mutalisks. i am an air player primarily.

I love how its “why cant vikings…” instead of why cant air units lol. Revealing that Terran bias.

And as pointed out… Vikings can shoot them =)

I have no idea if this would be balanced or even make a difference in the game but I really want this change. It just sounds so cool and could lead to some interesting plays.

Because Zerg can randomly get huge buff, that corruptors can take down cc in a second. But Terran has something good, it gets instantly nerfed. Parasitic bomb, which kills instantly 20 vikings is fine, but seeker is OP. Blizzard is so hypocritical…

who actually lands vikings? when you land vikings its because you dont need them any more and they are about to die.
