I haven’t been. Yes, I was afraid for the longest time that the pain was never going to end and that is a mindset that no person should ever have. When I wasn’t diagnosed, no one even understood what was happening and it was beyond frustrating. physicians and dentists were absolutely clueless.

I currently believe I’m finally healing. Back a year ago, life was dark and miserable. One of his patients with a similar issue didn’t live it very long because she couldn’t handle the pain. I feel that, facial pain is horrendous. I haven’t experienced many other types of pain, but damn, it’s hard to have a good mindset when you genuinely don’t know if you ever won’t not be in 8/10 or worse pain again.

glad it’s improving and hopefully it continues.

If all else fails, though, go to one of the crown jewel university hospitals in the US

they are in another dimension when it comes to the most complicated cases (that said I was surprised when I saw how relatively weak their treatment of the more standard stuff was)

Yea, I know, but a lot of physicians I know forget to tell patients to seek ophthalmologists and podiatrists for diabetic issues.

Podiatrists are usually one of the first physicians to spot diabetes because the lower extremity like the toes are the first to experience diabetic neuropathy, and eye issues can easy be seen by the good old eye doc.

FM/IM/Pediatrics should be the ones spotting it first in the vast majority of cases

Hell I used to do fundoscopic exams but never caught diabetes from that since eye problems develop relatively later.
