You know - the commander you always default to when you want to play, whatever the reason.
For me, it’s a toss-up between Stukov and Abathur.
I love Stukov’s theme and mechanics, but I don’t find he has the oomph for Brutal+. I also find his mech fiddly and annoying to use.
Abathur is…Abathur. A monster in every meaning of the term. I love Zerg and Abby was among my favorite characters in the Campaign, as well as one of my favorite heroes in HoTS so he is a no brainer.
I just wish I could change his color. That puke-yellow is ghastly.

I play almost everyone, but probably Nova. She’s just very well designed, versatile and fun. Mengsk is quickly becoming #2, thanks to his multiple playstyles and high skill cap. He’s rewarding and makes me want to get better at his combined army micro.
Nova’s my girl. I’m one of those people who drove themselves crazy getting every single achievement in covert ops just so I could get her awesome background portrait. Love her mechanics, aesthetic, everything.

Protoss: Alarak. Husbando.
Zerg: I’d like for it to be Stetmann, but with how bad his lag can be, I’ll stick with Abathur.
Terran: Han and Horner.

Terran:Currently addicted to Mengsk but that may be new toy syndrome even though I grinded all his achievements out the week he released. Otherwise the Horners.
Zerg:Kerrigan, not big on Zerg to be honest.
Toss:Was Zeratul but my new computer doesn’t like his graphical effects so Karax or Alarak. Karax really only if I pick a defensive map.

Tychus or Swann but I play just about any Terran (Stukov included) and Karax. But yeah, them two by far.
I dont see myself getting tired of Mengsk for a long time and even when I do I dont think I’ll ever really go back to playing the other Terran commanders outside of randoming them because pretty much every playstyle the other Terran commanders can do besides Tychus can be done with Mengsk too.
You like playing cheap Raynor bio, Mengsk has you covered too, you like Nova’s elite army, nukes, and controlling a powerful ghost hero unit, Mengsk can make expensive elites too, has tons of nukes, and high Rank Shadows’s can provide the same feel as using Nova, you like H&H’s stikeplaforms and elite air, well Mengsk can pretty much do the same with Earthsplitters and BCs, Vikings, and Flying tanks. You like playing heavy mech and defensively like Swann, well Mengsk can do the same thing with Tanks, Bunkers, and Thors and his workers even have the same ability to quickly build structures.
Artanis and Vorazun, I may end up adding Mengsk cuz he’s flexible. Artanis is one of the starter commanders I got the most fun out, helps in most mutations and can afford sharing chrono.
Vorazun is simply the croud control specialist, if you know how to deal with each comp you get to see how much strong she is, time stop has snipe obj potential and dark pylons do wonders early game.
Fenix, because he is very versatile, you build a bit of everything until you come to know which comp Amon threw at you and you start specializing. I especially love to play him against zerg swarn, his colossi excel against them.
Zagara, because of the neverending flow of zerglings and scourges. But I admit that, with her, DoN can be a little challenging if I am paired with someone who does not play defense.
Random. Best commander Blizzard ever made.

I just cycle through anyone I own I don’t have the portrait from yet.
Right now though it feels like I’m going to be a Kerrigan main for the rest of forever because of the absurd numbers you need to grind for her achievement.
I would agree with you if they made it so you could blacklist certain commanders or filter by things like “At level 15” or “Owned”
As it is now, it’s only even usable if you own every commander, and even then you would have to enjoy playing every commander to enjoy playing random.
Kerrigan, because I can either mass mutas and be mostly afk or solo Kerri and finish l&l fast
Raynor, an endless swarm of Marines thrown into the grinder, Mr. Good Guy is fun. Though Mengsk and his bio is growing on me quick.

Vorazun is my main commander
I want it to be Karax, but I just can’t figure out how to do it on Brutal+
I’d say either Nova or Fenix. I guess the hero sold them to me; made me nostalgic of warcraft 3.
Nova has a lot of tough units plus my favorite combo: marines, goliaths, and marauders.
Fenix because he has three forms and Adepts.
Terran: mengsk and Nova, I like their diverse playstyle options and nukes
Protoss: artanis, I love his rapid deployment from warp gates, he also has the best passive and a well rounded army
Zerg: Dehaka, I like his adaptibility and raw strength, also his air is very satisfying to use, although ground is inferior
