Which Units are better

In All In are Reapers good against Kerrigan and which version of Void Rays is the best in Legacy of the Void

What difficulty?

Even then regardless of difficulty, Reapers aren’t really a good unit in WoL in general. The best units to snipe her are Ghosts or Spectres. You are bound to lose mechanical units because of her abilities, but if you can outproduce the losses, Air units or Tanks work as well.

As for Void Rays, both Destroyers and “standard” Void Rays are good. It’s up to personal preference. Perhaps Destroyers are better for players with worse micro.

Void Rays are the best. Their DPS is way higher and the destroyer’s chaining attacks just become irrelevant when you have critical mass void rays that can hit everything in sight anyway.

I’ll point out that you can make her waste her mech delete ability on a spider mine. Yes seriously.

Destroyers have worse range and worse dps. Unless you want to use adepts for armour shred, there is never a use case for destroyers.

Reapers are not practical to use in anyway in WoL and Destroyers get at most 1 damage in their bounces when fully charged which is also horrible.

As WireBender mentioned Adapts are the only way to make Destroyers remotely useful.

Hey, I used Void Rays, I just keep an open mind.

For wings of liberty in almost any mission, when in doubt make marines.

Reapers are my go to units on outbreak. But yeah, beyond that they are pretty useless.

They are viable, but I would still stick with standard bio and hellions.

Why Hellions? They are trash, but they cost no vespene.

Marines don’t cost vespene, and are not trash. Also a WoL reapers have a bonus vs. light akin to immortal vs. armoured.

Hellions are really, really fast and the only unit that has to be focus fired in the entire mission is an armored one anyway (Aberration). Yeah, Reapers are mobile and you can waste some credits on their attack upgrade, but Hellions are easy to mass, because you can reactor them, they don’t cost vespene, they are faster to train even without the reactor, so you can produce 6 of them on one reactor factory in a time that one barracks would produce 2 reapers.

And they don’t block production queue for Marines and other actually useful infantry.

Splitting marines & marauders got me way further in outbreak than hellions or firebats.

Well, we all know that MMM is the best composition for any early WoL mission, but it gets a bit boring, eh.

Don’t reapers have their light bonus without the upgrade, and an upgrade to just make them silly good at killing light units? If marines didn’t just delete hydra/ling anyways, reaper upgrade could actually be pretty powerful.

They do, but so do Hellions.
Reaper’s advantage actually comes from the grenade attack against buildings. Where they fall off is their weakness against Broodlings. Where Hellions would just roast them with their linear AoE, Reapers have to properly focus fire them.

I wouldn’t recommend Reapers against the Queen of Blades in “All In.” Not unless you have perfect micro. Otherwise, she’s going to do her psionic storm / razor swarm spell (or whatever it’s called) and they’re just all going to get ripped to pieces nearly instantly.

Of course, you could do a lot worse… like trying to attack her with Battlecruisers or something, hahahaha… she’ll just use her one-shot-kill spell against big, powerful units like BCs.

Gradius is right. I kinda subjectively enjoy Destroyers sometimes against Zerg (i.e. packs of swarmy zerglings ‘n’ such, like on Cybros), but there’s no question that Nerazim Void Rays are superior. Their range becomes insane. Especially on “Salvation” (last mission of the “main” Legacy of the Void campaign), a fleet of (Nerazim) Void Rays can outrange pretty much everything in those brutal Golden Armada attacks. Nothin’ better.

Seriously. Mass Marine/Medic/Marauder, stimpack. Win. Quick to replace, too, if you take losses.

True. They’re the best strategy for that mission.

All fair points, but I seriously hate how slowly their flame attack destroys those infested buildings.

That’s why I run bio for defense, Stimmed Marines with the Protoss Attack upgrade melt them. I don’t really rush that mission these days. Outbreak is super chill.

But yeah, Hellions definitely suck against structures, but they at least evacuate quickly and have no issue against Broodlings.
