Which CPU is better for 4v4 late game?

I know that this kind of RTS game requires a CPU with strong single core performance, especially when late game with a lot of units. So which is the best, 9800x3d or 9950x or Core 9 285k? 9800x3d is overall the best for gaming, but 9950x and Core 9 285k provide better single core performance.

This game benefits heavily from the 3d chips.

9800x3d is significantly worse in single core performance. 9950x is better in multithreading but worse in single thread vs the i9. The i9 has very slightly better overall performance than the 9950x but at a drastically higher price. The best bang for your buck is the 9950x and it also has dang near the same performance as the i9.

I personally run a 7950x and it’s within 10% the performance of the i9 but it’s currently half the cost.

Keep in mind when building a PC with a high end CPU, it’s very easy to gimp the CPU by cutting corners on the rest of your board. Get a good motherboard with a good chipset. Get good ram with high the highest frequency your system can support. Make sure the motherboard doesn’t share PCIE lanes between ssds and gpus. So on and so forth.

When you buy the $900 core i9 you are also signing up for $400 ram and and a $500 motherboard and a $150 water block. Otherwise you won’t be getting full performance out of the i9 anyway.

Another thing worth noting is that the overall quality of the build has a bigger impact on performance than the individual parts. It is very possible to buy a $900 cpu and get $500 cpu performance out of it. Don’t just throw money at it. Think about it.

Here is the userbenchmark rankings for the 7950x: https://i.imgur.com/2gwUJuf.png. Notice how all 7950x score very high compared to other cpus which are normally in the yellow range, there is still a wide range of performance and it is very possible to get bad performance from a good cpu if the rest of the build isn’t right.

That said it’s almost certain that every single one of these cpus could play sc2 flawlessly.

also, with a cpu on that high end scale your gonna need a proper cooler for it to get your peformance. dont skimp on that either, or youll regret that.

on a side note, i run a ryzen 5 5600 in mine and it does pretty well in 4v4. I dont really see a whole lot of stutter lag, only rarely. this is coupled with a rx5700xt. so take that as you will.

also be aware alot of the stutter lag you see in 4v4 could also contribute to a person that has bad internet, alot of times guys with terrible internet lag up the game, specially on 4s where you have a higher chance of getting these guys.
