Which abilities should have an autocast?

Some abilities could/need to have an autocast for minor convenience sake.

  1. Queen’s Transfusion = Kerrigan’s Queens could have these abilities to heal Kerrigan and her tanky units like Torrasque and Broodlords (P1 Queens having Transfusion autocast will be especially useful)
  2. Queen’s Spawn Larva = Kerrigan but especially Zagara (P1 largely) could benefit from this ability.
  3. Corruptor’s Corruption = It’s not serious but it would be nice (Couldn’t they make the ability splashed and also target structures as well?), I think having this as autocast is fine as it doesn’t boost Zagara’s Death ball greatly.
  4. Infestor charging protocol (seriously underrated because manual casting, should start doing it when your units are damaged)
  5. Mecha Lurker Focused strike
  6. Mecha Ultralisk charge

What are your thoughts? Are there any other abilities that could benefit?

I think based on queens usage overall across commanders, it would benefit to have their 2 abilities auto-cast (although generally I think only 1 can be turned on at a time).

Nova’s ghosts emp, similar to Mengsk ones.

Stetmann
lurker Focused strike
Ultralisk charge
Infestor charging protocol (seriously underrated because manual casting, should start doing it when your units are damaged)
Corruptor barrage

Zerg queens in general.

Karax’s Imortals shadow cannon (enemies over 200 health triggers the auto cast so no waste on lings).

Stukov’s brood queens fungal growth.

Maybe auto-cast yamatos from Raynor/Stetmann/Mengsk but that’s arguable.

personally I’d like every ability to have an autocast function, I dont see why not, besides it reducing the skill ceiling a little bit though.

Some of them would need an AI for when to do that. (it’s not just…available target use ability…because sometimes ground=available target)

Yeah definitely

That’s fair enough but would be too powerful.
If the damage output is decreased then would whole heartedly agree.

Not sure about those, why not spawn Broodlings for 250 health trigger?

Both abilities above are really underrated, people should use it a lot often.

I would like DTs stasis, CVs radiate, Nova’s raven predator missile, Abathur’s ravager’s corrosive bile, and Stukov P2’s infested drop to autocast.

I think vulture mine replenish can be set to autocast?
After you research it just right click on the replenish ability when a vulture is selected.

Most of these purely dumb down the gameplay. Some suggestions have clear in-game conflicts toward either mineral or energy management.

The only types of auto cast should be non-damage and non-resource related. And generally that is already true.

It’s retroactive. You can toggle autocast for Replenish Spider Mines even before you get the upgrade.

For Queens Spawn Larva, rather than autocast, they should just, after receiving the order, hug the building until they have another injection ready.
No search for targets or overly complicated checks to do that way.

After it’s been researched, right-click the ability to switch on autocast. This shouldn’t be in the list at all. Merely needing to activate autocast is not much of an issue. (Is the decision “sticky” for future vultures?)

Even better.

DT Stasis is autocast after being researched. And it’s available and autocast for all Shadow Guards.

Mr Burger this already has an auto cast option. When the vulture is trained the auto cast is off, you have to turn auto replenishment.

Validators are used in the editor in order to restrict what an auto-cast ability is used against. It’s entirely possible to add some filters to what an ability can be used against, for example “three targets in radius” or “target has greater than 200 vitality.”

It is pretty important to note that abilities’ auto-cast target filters can be done separately to the actual target filters of the ability, and usually auto-cast filters are even narrower than standard cast. That said, it’ll still fail if something in the effect chain of the ability prevents it from being used.

Hold the phone! Is this for real!? I legit did not ever right clicked to toggle that, and I played a lot of Raynor. :scream:

I mean it works better when not auto anyway…

Hmm, I only does 1 at a time you mean? I didn’t playtested yet.

Sometimes I wish stetmann lurkers could have the single target thing on autocast so I could use them as def against poops. Stet ultras could also have the burrow charge on autocast.
