Some abilities could/need to have an autocast for minor convenience sake.
Queen’s Transfusion = Kerrigan’s Queens could have these abilities to heal Kerrigan and her tanky units like Torrasque and Broodlords (P1 Queens having Transfusion autocast will be especially useful)
Queen’s Spawn Larva = Kerrigan but especially Zagara (P1 largely) could benefit from this ability.
Corruptor’s Corruption = It’s not serious but it would be nice (Couldn’t they make the ability splashed and also target structures as well?), I think having this as autocast is fine as it doesn’t boost Zagara’s Death ball greatly.
Infestor charging protocol (seriously underrated because manual casting, should start doing it when your units are damaged)
Mecha Lurker Focused strike
Mecha Ultralisk charge
What are your thoughts? Are there any other abilities that could benefit?
I think based on queens usage overall across commanders, it would benefit to have their 2 abilities auto-cast (although generally I think only 1 can be turned on at a time).
Stetmann
lurker Focused strike
Ultralisk charge
Infestor charging protocol (seriously underrated because manual casting, should start doing it when your units are damaged)
Corruptor barrage
Zerg queens in general.
Karax’s Imortals shadow cannon (enemies over 200 health triggers the auto cast so no waste on lings).
Stukov’s brood queens fungal growth.
Maybe auto-cast yamatos from Raynor/Stetmann/Mengsk but that’s arguable.
For Queens Spawn Larva, rather than autocast, they should just, after receiving the order, hug the building until they have another injection ready.
No search for targets or overly complicated checks to do that way.
After it’s been researched, right-click the ability to switch on autocast. This shouldn’t be in the list at all. Merely needing to activate autocast is not much of an issue. (Is the decision “sticky” for future vultures?)
Even better.
DT Stasis is autocast after being researched. And it’s available and autocast for all Shadow Guards.
Validators are used in the editor in order to restrict what an auto-cast ability is used against. It’s entirely possible to add some filters to what an ability can be used against, for example “three targets in radius” or “target has greater than 200 vitality.”
It is pretty important to note that abilities’ auto-cast target filters can be done separately to the actual target filters of the ability, and usually auto-cast filters are even narrower than standard cast. That said, it’ll still fail if something in the effect chain of the ability prevents it from being used.
Sometimes I wish stetmann lurkers could have the single target thing on autocast so I could use them as def against poops. Stet ultras could also have the burrow charge on autocast.
