No, I’m not. I agree that at pro level when u can micro vipers, infestors, queens, spores AND the rest of the army at the same time, zerg might have advantage. If you can micro only 2 types of units (eg. just corruptors + vipers) then it’s the other way round.
But should the game be ballanced only for the pros who make up for maybe 0.01% of the playerbase?
Were did I write they aren’t “good at all”? I wrote that they are not good ENOUGH, considering that it’s highly specialised unit vs general purpose unit.
For comparison see phoenix vs mutalisk. With range upgrade even 1 phoenix can kill pretty much any number of mutas, that’s what I mean by counter. And yet, phoenixes are usable for plenty of other things - from killing overlords or workers to pretty much anything that is not massive or a structure.
True, corruptors CAN kill structures, but only if there is no antiair around.
Corruptors win vs carriers/bcs/tempest if you know EXACTLY how many you need to make. You build too few, you still die to the very unit you wanted to counter. You build too many, you still die because you don’t have enough to fight the ground. Zerg is likely to be at upgrade disadvantage because protoss who is going air can chronoboost air attack from minute 2, while zerg can only make flyer carapace (which also costs more than air attack) after knowing it’s gonna be air battle and finishing spire.
Building Spire is risky. You go mutas and you die if there are few phoenix or thors. You go corruptors because you scouted carriers/BCs and you still die if you don’t make the correct amount. Going stargate is not risky, just make few cannons to not to die until the army is ready, then sprinkle in some archons and zealots and a move to victory. If you misscalculated just recall, refill all shields with a battery overcharge and go again.
If you knew the enemy is only going to make carriers and absolutely nothing else then you can make corruptors and win, but few “safety corruptors” won’t help.
That’s why I think some buff would be good. Even just in a form of an upgrade that would increase the +massive bonus.
BCs are a problem (even though smaller) because mass yamato and teleport away is a thing. And again it’s not going to be the only unit your enemy makes.
As for the test corruptors vs carriers, I must admit I did the test before the latest patch and it is now significantly better for the corruptors (Before, in high numbers manually targeting carriers meant lots of wasted shots and a-moving would mean trading all corruptors for just some interceptors. Now you pretty much just have to right click one carrier and let the AI do the rest, for better results)
