What is the protoss response to mass thors?

Let’s say you get into a macro game and the terran player masses thors? What do you build to keep him from just A moving across the map?

mass zealots (with charge) or mass immortals, just a move and it’s your win

in theory disruptors. in practice nothing.

Can you show me a pro game with mass thors crushing toss ?
I don’t really see how disruptors are not destroying Thors.

nothing? try in the unit tester
17 immortals= 4675 minerals
1700 gas
68 supply
vs
16 thors= 4800 minerals
3200 gas
96 supply
immortals win, by one almost always, so if you add one more you still spend less and win for sure, we’re talking about a terran player who a-move his thors here

Wrong. On both counts…

Side note: Why are all anti Terran whiners complete morons? Have any of them actually seen a game? Like ever?

They aren’t because everything else smashes Thor so thoroughly that why would you bother.

If you lost to mass thors that means your opponent was just much much better than you and could win with anything but chose thors for some reason.

PS:Immortals zealot murder thors

Disruptors, Immortals, Zealots, Mass Stalker with focus fire. Dark Templar.

Don’t tell some people on this forum that immortal zealot is good against something!

My first thought would be ‘why on earth did you let him get to that point?’. There is a reason you don’t see mass Thors vs Toss at higher levels - they are so immobile and chunky that you are just asking to be stuck on 3 bases while your opponent takes the map.

Secondly, Immortals and Zealots would be my first thought. Although you could probably make sky Toss work if you played a positional game, or even just an endless Disruptor poke-and-trade.

I know right?. After what they did to the poor Adept.

Some terrans play very very defensive. My response is usually just grab the entire map and try and deny their 3rd or 4th. However if they get a 3rd they can have enough economy to do mass BCs or mass Thor’s, enough economy to do something that could be dangerous if I don’t respond right. BCs are pretty easy to counter but I’ve lost a lot of games to mass Thor’s. I actually don’t know what to build. in theory immortals work but in practice its a struggle to get them to walk into thor fire and trade well. One thing that doesn’t work is carriers or tempests for sure.

Mass Thor’s do show up on the pro level quite frequently actually. There was a recent game with TY and I can’t remember who in homestory and basically tempests and carriers are absolutely destroyed by mass Thor’s. The map was Acropolis and it was basically just a slow push out by Thor’s

Units that are good vs Thors:
Immortals
Disruptors
Zealots

Units that are mediocre vs Thors:
Carriers

Units that are bad vs Thors:
Tempest
Stalkers
Archons

Basically as long as you build Immortals, Zealots or Immortals and use those units correctly you will counter Thors.

I’d really like to see this game. It could be that Blizzard overcompensated for the issues Terrans were having against Protoss later on - but it’s going to be difficult to tell before the first GSL season of 2020.

And yes, the higher end Toss - at least in Korea - seem to be playing more and more like Zerg now, out expanding the Terran and drilling through with high eco trades.

Seriously. They want every Protoss to be able to look like stats. Just look away from the screen and a click Zealots on the mini-map, but never be strong enough to actually win a tournament? I don’t get it. The race has gotten so easy at almost every level, but the pros are getting so screwed the esports is about to be x-rated.

I.A.C. Netflix/chill. Popcorn/movie. Laughter. Molly/lube…

is this a troll question. Cant remember the last time i considered thors v toss
