So every year after blizzcon blizzard releases a major overhaul that changes the current meta and keeps the game relatively fresh. I wanted to ask some people what they think should be changed?
Me, personally, I would like to see some units removed and replaced with other units. This would completely change the games dynamic a bit. With units seeing major overhauls I think it might just be better to replace the unit completely. AKA replace a thor with a goliath, the liberator with a wraith, the cyclone with a diamondback and etc…
Replace the Thor with Goliath and Liberator with Wraith (not Valkyrie?)? Why not just go back to playing Brood War then?
I can understand replacing Cyclone with Diamondback, and I would love to see the Warhound make a return, but I don’t think nostalgia and calling for a return to Brood War units will keep the game fresh. Like, what does the Goliath bring that the Thor doesn’t already do? If that’s the case, then why replace it?
I only want the Warhound back, but obviously it’ll need some changes to make it more balanced and to ensure it just doesn’t replace the Marauder.
I’d like to see more build order restrictions for Terran. Balance first affects diversity of options before affecting winrates and right now Terran has incredible build diversity. Look at how the old thor deleted mutalisks from the game as an excellent example. Zergs adapted, stopped making mutalisks, and the winrates were equal but zerg was more restricted in build order and unit comp options. Terran can do almost anything they want to at the moment, meanwhile there is still only one way to play zerg, and that’s to turtle, make drones and shoot for the late game and hive tech. I think each race should have an equal arsenal of strategic options so they need to restrict terran a bit more and it will naturally create more options for zergs.
Rather trade Banshee for Wraith. Problem with Banshee is, its a Tech labbed unit, but very one sided. Only for mid game harass, due air attack lack. This role is much better for Wraith. Harrass with cloack and later join air army. Add Firebat back to Terran rax army, and let Hellbat only Mecha unit with same HP as Helion (80) but 2-3 armor. Remove definitly SH! Its stupid fight with and also figth against. Its not balance issue, its just stupid how SH works. Zerg need something between Mutalisk and BL to fight other ground armies, or Mutalisk upgrade (looses regen or speed for more HP or no light attribute) Finally Protoss, lot of units are too allrounded so they dont really need combinations. Stalker is too strong also vs light units, they trade really well and + Blink is insane. As counter you need micro + unit combinations which I find not fair! Archon with no attribute is one of best unit with current HP pool. And WP! Ouu this nasty Protoss tool. I find pick up range funny and dont need nerf. But the problem is Enhanced Power field! This is the reall power of WP
Queen need a update on movement speed. Queen take 2 supply (While protoss with chrono and Terran with mule no cost supply) so she must have some role for late game - have some update tech for it.
Yes, I would like to see some bigger changes. Meta will get screwed anyway, so why not implement something really big?
Personally, I don’t like widow mines and liberators. These are just optional, you can make them or you can not make them. Neither the game will get less exciting nor the strategy pool will get smaller, if they are removed.
THIS! This would be great, actually. Hellbats are not that useful now because “vanilla mech” doesn’t work anyway, but for bio they could be a big big refreshment.
For example adding the Wraith into SC2 would be very balanced and fit comfortably with the Viking and Banshee. Wraiths have higher micro potential(but shorter range) compared to the viking due to better speed. They also don’t compete with the banshee A2G. What you can also do is merge Wraith Cloak and Banshee Cloak into a single upgrade.
The Dragoon could also be added into SC2 with no problems and not compete with the stalker. Reason being is that the Dragoon is slower moving compared to the stalker and it has slightly higher HP. Stalkers have blink and faster movement speed in comparison. Dragoons also have a different damage profile of 10(+10 vs armored) compared to the stalker which is 13(+5 vs armored) and a different attack speed.
Having both the Dragoon and Stalker provides Protoss with so many different composition options and choices of which one for what situation. Also it allows Protoss to not rely so much on immortals and makes gateway comps more fun to play.
Aberrations could be added into SC2 for Zerg with no issues. Aberrations have several advantages over the Ultralisk. They would be Lair Tech from the infestation pit, have a cheaper cost and supply cost and are able to walk over smaller units. Aberrations however don’t do splash damage and have lower HP and armor values compared to Ultralisks.
I’m not sure about the terrian or zerg units, but if i remember correctly there’s an interview somewhere with a dev who explains that they removed the dragoon because it was too powerful of an all-around unit.
But i would love to see it. I don’t play vs very often, but Im always there as toss and anything new to try sounds like fun
The real reason is that they wanted to put in a “dark dragoon” aka the stalker. But after they made the roach T1 instead of the hydra they realized they needed an anti-armor robo unit so they created the immortal.
So dragoons could be brought back since they can co-exist with the stalker without overlap too much since they are very different designs and roles.
I’m not sure if I can agree with this. Mutalisk has seen a major come back on the ladder lately, and 8-10 mutas can completely destroy a mineral line in no time.
Not only that, it forces the Terran to stay at home and defend against the harassing mutas while the Zerg is free to expo everywhere and get out the Broodlord/Corruptor/ Infestor dream army.
Terran build orders are restricted by their limited income up until the mid-game.
Baneling busts and 'Ling floods still win a lot of games. I don’t think Zerg is forced to turtle up at all.
I agree with that. We will be more than happy to replace the Disruptor with the Reaver. It will mark a significant increase in the WP usage as transport because the Reavers are slow babies.
Yea, it will help considerably certain people that are in the habit of powering-off their router after each thrashing…
I saw once a terran that the moment that he saw 6 Hallucinated Disruptors he went off-line.
A useful change would be that the Sentry must create not one but two Hallu-Disruptors.
Terrans like them so much, why don’t we treat them to the spectacle?
Nerf boost one way or another: energy cost, effect, Nexus starting energy - anything is better then nothing at this point.
Rework Interference Matrix: it is ruining TvT right now. Its OP in TvT, useless in TvZ and in TvP it works only in one scenario. My suggestion is making it cost 100 energy, but immobilizing target. Basically Lockdown.
Add Raven some worthy late game spell, e.g. Defense Matrix or PDD.
