WCS Fall Statistics

With Serral winning another WCS title we have a new wave of whining about Zerg and this time specifically about the late game. It’s interesting to see that Zerg won the majority of their games in the early-midgame and had a losing record in the late game for the most part against Terran and Protoss. It looks like 2 more games may have been won by Zerg against Terran past the 20 minute mark which were most likely by Serral.

Because majority of games get decided in mid-lategame in tvz, because terrans know they can’t let zerg get to the lategame and need to do damage. When you saw last some terran, which would play with intent to get to the lategame. It is either cheese, or timming attack, or they try to kill zerg straight off with battlemech and if they lose momentum even one time, it is tough as hell.

Don’t be overread the high win ratio for zergs in the mid game in ZvP. There are multiple interpretations.

It could simply due to the fact that if a protoss attempts a mid-game all in and fails, they leave the game. In other words it could be due to high failure rate of protoss all ins. Of course, zerg mid-game in ZvP is still strong.

It also doesn’t account for skill differences and how that affects game length. Scarlet for example beat Vindicta very quickly but there is literally a 1k mmr difference between the two players. When measuring game length the skill difference needs to be accounted for since it will have a very large impact on game length.

It 's always the same circus with WCS, as regions are locked and there isn’t really anyone on the tournament at the level of Serral, he wins.

So whiners come each time “Look zerg won again, IMBA, IMBA, go nerf”.

oh you mean the race that has dominated WCS since the region lock, no matter what race was strong at the time, is still winning?
