Everyone with half and eye can see how stupid thors are. Is there a more skilless unit in the game? Honestly how can a single terran justify that a thor needs any sort of micro to control. They literally do everything well. And the only things that slightly counter them are easily handled by hellbats or liberators. Thors are the optimee of a terran unit, no skill, no strategy, A-move, and sit back. There is not a single unit in all of SC2 or any unit comp that requires less skill than mech terran
100 % true, they counter massive air, clunk of light air, and most ground units, so i would say, pound for pound, it’s the best unit this game has to offer right now
Nah they are godlike just against zerg with protoos you can smash them
Agreed, thors r gae.
Hahaha funny, nice zerg echo chamber here!
If you lose to terran on current patch you are trash! But since you are probably in gold league, i don’t wonder. In gold league thors are probably OP…
As a Terran, yeah i can understand Thor can be really frustrating like Disruptor and Lurkers. If you nerf Disruptor and Lurkers, i’m totally ok with a thor nerf.
Not to mention sh and viper…
I make thors in one situation: when I want to lose
Yeah, thors are ridiculous vs zerg, nothing to discuss. Even lurkers lose to thor. Maybe at the serral level this is not a problem but for the rest of the people it is totally ridiculous, and even he lost to mass thor. When serral loses against a unit that has no micro potential you know there is a problem
What is your league? You have to harass terran with sh, or 2 armies of lurker viper and use nydus. If you let terran max out and don’t do any damage no wonder you are losing. I don’t want to tell you how to play, but i am annoyed anyone can even think thors are op. You don’t fight mech head on! You counter e.g. when he moves out, or do a basetrade… Or play game of attrition… Also because sh, you can bank thousands of resouces and you can go over 200 supply in end game!!! While terran will have almost 0 bank!
Sorry, I don’t play theorycraft. My opinion that the state of the thor is totally ridiculous is not going to change. There is no other unit in the game that wins games on its own
Hahaha then you have no right to complain that they are OP! If you do it wrong… This is not theory craft, this is how you beat mech actually. Enjoy every game loss vs not OP thors!
I have the right to complain about what I want. Who is going to stop me? Sometimes I win vs mass thor that’s not the point. I don’t know if “op” is the right term, It’s just ridiculous. Limits terran late comps and generally makes the game less dynamic and less interesting. Usually there is no composition that I get that makes the terran desist from continuing to masse thors and that is because it does not have an effective counter, win or lose that’s not the point. That stagnant dynamic does not happen with any other unit
I got caught off guard by thors one time in WoL and lost my main base, but I just made a bunch of factories all over the map, made thors of my own, and out played the other guy and won anyway.
Sure. But then you are not right, you complain while being wrong!!!
@UYScuti, EarthenKiwi
Have you ever heard about neural ? Try it. You won’t regret it.
Come on, don’t argue like TCF. They won’t get the irony.
That’s your opinion, I don’t see why it should have more relevance than mine
Yes, the ability that gives you control while channeling that has only one more range than a thor costs 100 energy and lasts a maximum of 11 seconds and requires an upgrade of 150/150. If I’m not mistaken it was nerfed by the terrans crying, It was a good option
Thors are so large, bulky, and slow that you don’t need a range advantage to use Neural. In fact, you have 0.595 seconds to Neural the Thor before it can even attack when it is within range.
Mind Control abilities would normally cost 125-200 energy to prevent spamming. Neural can only get away with its low energy cost because of the channel (which prevents double-casts).
That’s more than enough time! A single Thor can kill any ground unit within this game within that time frame.
Neural Parasite was a much bigger problem for Protoss than Terran.
Terran players often rely on Bio in TvZ, where their composition rarely includes any units that cost more than 2 supply; and in the rare cases where Tanks were used instead of Widow Mines; the Tanks’ range could be sufficient to snipe the Infestors when they attempted to Neural. Terran mech is very vulnerable to Neural when using Thor or Battlecruiser heavy comps; but mech’s other units (Tanks, Hellions/Hellbats, Widow Mines, Vikings, Ravens, etc) are less effected.
In contrast, the Protoss army tends to rely on support from large and expensive 4-6 supply units (Archons, Immortals, Colossus, Carriers, etc) that are prime targets for Neural. Protoss is easily overwhelmed by Zerg without these units or when they get Neuraled. At 9 range, Neural Parasite effectively outranged every “counter” that Protoss could try to throw at Infestors; so Neural was just blatantly overpowered.
