Well that makes a whole lot of sense…
I’m not saying coop. I’m saying the campaign. There are interesting units like the diamondback that are ready in the game which could be implemented in multiplayer that would spice up the scene. There aren’t going to be anymore expansions for sc2 so adding new units via season or another mode like beasty said could be interesting
Go back to watching Brood war then since nothing ever needs to change. I hope you enjoy your radio and rotary phone too
I agree with your assessment the blizzard needs to get away fromthe"be as balanced as possible"stance. And appreciate the lack of vitriol in your comment. I just dont see a way to get to balanced. So I beastys idea of rotating units to get away from the idea balance and more to the creativity of builds
You can’t get further away from balance than the game is now. A figured out game with clear favorites = the best race is going to win an overwhelming amount of the time.
New units, granted the queen ever gets a nerf, = more balance for the time being, whether one race is theoretically stronger or not. The “problem” is, no one ever creates anything. They just watch a stream or pro vod and copy w/e they see. The only thing non Koreans have ever created are all-ins.
When a game is new… all-ins reign supreme because it takes much longer to figure out how to stop an all-in than execute it.
There are no great alternatives, given that, outside of… you know… actually not ignoring reality. The queen is way too good and the tempest could not be worse, in any way imaginable. The high templar is a useless unit with no role. This game desperately needs changes…
yes most toss are gm and dominate the top 16 of tournies bbut they dont win all ofo them so they must be UP
Grats on being ignored. Blah, blah, blah.
Brood war is a significantly better game, twice as old and still popular, and literal proof of my point that they didn’t need to “change it up” every 6 months to keep ADD children like you from “getting bored” lol.
Must be hard to deal with the fact that the world doesn’t revolve around youI.
The problem is, Broodwar is a significantly harder game. Be it macro, strategy or army movement, it’s just so much harder that the better player always decided who won at the non Korean level (we couldn’t beat any good Koreans, even one game).
SC 2 is a less fun version of nexus wars. You max out. I max out. May the race with the better possible maxed comp win. SC 2 is designed so non Koreans can compete, for esport purposes. Sadly, that’s synonymous with dumbing everything down.
SC 2 is so straightforward and easy in comparison that balance truly does matter. The better race should always win at the highest level. And… that’s pretty much what happens.
I’m really not into this Korean worship thing. They dominate BW because for the entirety of the game’s existence literally no one else took it seriously, and in a way, that’s still the case with sc2.
It’s like how Canada wins the most golds in ice hockey, because very few care for it as much.
This isn’t really to downplay their skill, rather pointing out that when you’re the only one who cares about something, you tend to be the best at it.
I am into this Korean worship thing, because it’s warranted. Non Koreans were playing as hard then as they are now, whether there was money in it or not for them. Day[9] was as talented as anyone in the game today, and he took the game more seriously than anyone to date.
It just didn’t matter… NO ONE could even win one game vs an A team Korean. Non Koreans seriously went years of playing ladder without a single victory to report vs an A teamer.
You could seriously log onto an Asian server and be playing the biggest noob ever, and even the noobie has 400 APM (I wish I were exaggerating). They all naturally have more APM and their country has a higher average IQ. SC 2 needs to be as dumbed down as it is now for non Koreans to look great.
Non Koreans are just dumb. A lot of guys won’t even use camera hotkeys or hotkey units, yet… they’re pro gamers… It’s a joke… Pro houses in Korea didn’t allow players to play like an idiot nor train like one.
popular by what standard? All 100 people who still play and watch it? No new people are coming to starcraft so unless you want to keep playing broodwar for the rest of your life, say goodbye to the RTS genre. Also not a child boomer
I thought blizz alienated the korean pro scene with the wcs, didnt they? Kespa falls and korean teams disband.
Thanks blizzard.
Definitely not warranted.
You mention individuals whom to you cared “just as much”, but that doesn’t place them in even grounds as people in a country where being a pro gamer was actually a thing.
IQ is a hard thing to measure, I’d argue that in a nation where the culture places high standards on academics, people are bound to excel more on generic IQ tests.
Korea being better at SC is simply a matter of it being a cultural development, like how Brazil never runs out of soccer players of high level because it’s a cultural aspect that they have nurtured for decades.
You could likely find individual kids in Korea who “care” about soccer as much as ones in Brazil, and odds are they will not be as good by comparison.
Honestly, pretending koreans are naturally better is kinda pathetic, that stuff should stop.
- Korea has the highest average IQ in the world…
- Asians have so much finger dexterity that they came up with a “chop stick theory” to try to explain why they have so much more dexterity than everyone else.
They’re built to own the rest of the world, then combine taking the game more seriously than everyone else… and you have to create a game as bad as SC 2 to try stop them. But, guess what… no one ever brings up what is truly sad…
While non Koreans started out as “rock stars” in SC 2, the best Koreans were still playing BW. Despite starting SC 2 years later… it only took them a year, tops, to become better than every other non Korean.
Even with a huge head start in SC 2, Blizzard had to come up with region locking because that’s how much better these guys were at RTS and fundamentally.
Even with the Korean scene being dead… they’re still better than everyone who… doesn’t play as Zerg. The most talented Koreans switched back to BW… and they still dominate the top 10 on aligulac.
This is what it looks like when a game is super freaking easy/made for babies and Koreans aren’t even paying any mind to SC 2. Non Koreans haven’t done anything to warrant pride in anything.
I don’t know why people won’t admit it. It’s like people were too bad at BW to realize anything about the game. Strategically… these games could not be further apart. There’s just not enough non Koreans that are smart enough to play BW. Surely not smart enough to overcome their APM or fundamental skill difference.
I already told you what I think of IQ averages, not sure why you repeated yourself there.
You’re clearly set in your way of idolizing koreans as superior people(lol) so carry on.
Yeah, well you should, too. Just like blacks are clearly more athletic in general. It’s common sense at this point. I would say I played both games at the “GM level,” but you know what… there wasn’t a non Korean that was even top 200 in the world when I played.
A group of people with 400 APM, who are smarter than you, who decide to take a game more seriously or just as seriously… is favored. You’d have to invent the queen and make everything easy mode to overcome that.
Black people excel at athleticism no doubt, this can be observed in all black people all over the world no matter where they’re from(as an average).
It seems entirely unrelated to nurture or environment, their physical advantage is visible regardless.
What you are judging koreans by to qualify them as superior seems extremely related to the nurture of their environment to me.
Their country cares a great deal about academics, and they’re the only ones who cared about a video game to the point of it being treated as a sport.
Them being better at it is expected, the shock would be if they weren’t.
Btw, a quick search on Google suggested that Singapore and Hong Kong have the highest average IQ.
Predictably, most nations whose culture hold academics in high regard are well represented at the top of these lists(Korea included of course).
What’s the real common theme? They’re Asians. Maybe they care about academics for the same reason naturally athletic people care more about sports. I cared far more about sports than any of this stuff (dad is an olympic caliber athlete).
Due to slavery and what not, they basically say black people were bred to be strong/athletic. At the end of the day, sure we’re all human… but we’re not exactly the same and it probably helps explain differences.
Even take the virus… they say Asian men are more impacted than anyone else due to them having more ace2 cells or w/e in their lungs. Black people have more fast twitch muscles.
Whether the differences are minuscule or not, at the highest level… everything matters. Just like Terrans will whine incessantly in matchups that show them being favored by 3 or more %.
There are positions in sports, such as cornerback in football, where there isn’t a SINGLE non black person. If you’re genetically geared for something, and a large segment of that population pursues that endeavor, then it’s really freaking hard to become the first.
You have to lower the skill ceiling. To me, that’s what SC 2 did. This isn’t even starcraft to me. It’s just a stupid freaking UMS/arcade game. It’s such a silly game.
SC2 sucks, that was never an argument from me.
I definitely think cultural emphasis on a subject yields better results in it, not being more adept at it.
It’s not like asians 200 years ago all got together and said: “hey, we suck at sports but we’re good at math, let’s focus on that and hope it becomes relevant in the future”.
Also, not saying I agree, but if skill ceiling could truly be lowered in the game, to the point that those who are naturally better at it no longer stand out, then esports is an even bigger joke of a concept than I already think it is.
Flash should be able to be flash in any form of SC.
