The year is 2023. TY and Maru prepare to face off again in the grand finals of the 3rd GSL of the year. This will be the 10th GSL in a row that the finals are between TY, Maru, and INnoVation. Protoss has yet to win a Premier tournament, marking 6 years without a premier win for Protoss. The grandmaster ladder is now 90% Protoss, with a few Terran and Zerg players fighting bitterly for control of the 10%. M1-M3 paint a similar picture. The Bronze-Platinum playerbase is composed exclusively of Terran players.
The playerbase has continued to grow since the game went F2P, and viewership is second only to the days of WoL hype. Community figures are unanimous in their opinion that the game is more balanced now than ever in its past.
