Hello everyone, I have been lurking for a while and I have decided to break my silence: enough is enough.
SCII as it stands now is utterly broken, balance-wise. Terran is in a bad spot and Zerg is in an even worse position as a result. Protoss needs serious balance changes to fix the current state of the balance. Protoss was (is) imbalanced back in Brood War, it was imbalanced in Wings of Liberty, and it is still imbalanced now. The truth is that it’s been 22 years, and the meta still hasn’t “adapted” to Protoss.
Let’s look at the facts:
FACT #1: Protoss is overrepresented in GM:

Protoss represents nearly 45% of the GM ladder. Terran and Zerg are at 30% and 25% respectively. How can anyone say this is balanced? The correct figures should be roughly 33% for each race, with some room for minor variations and hiccups. This is not the case, because the PPP whined and whined and whined until Blizzard finally gave in and handed the game to them.
FACT #2: Protoss is favoured in both PvZ and PvT and Terran is favoured in TvZ, resulting in a stacking effect against Zerg players:
The reason that Zerg is making up such a small percentage of the Grandmaster ladder is because (on top of the fact that Protoss is slightly favoured in PvZ) Protoss is heavily favoured in PvT. This results in Terran players having a depressed winrate and thus lower MMR, and therefore also results in Zerg players being put in unfavourable matches against Terran players, in an already Terran-favoured matchup.
FACT #3: Protoss players, due to the imbalance, do not need to exert themselves, so the best of the best do not stand out:
Think about it. Terran has its godly players like Maru, TY, and INnoVation, who are in another echelon to the rest. Zerg has Serral and Reynor, again, in another echelon. Which Protoss players stand out? None of them, because Protoss does not have to work as hard, so none of the Protoss players stand out among the rest. If Terran were suddenly overpowered, there would be nobody with status like Maru or TY or INnoVation, instead we would end up with Protoss icons separating themselves out from the rest, and likewise the same would happen if Zerg were suddenly overpowered. There are plenty of Protoss pros that you can name. They are all very good. But there are none like Serral or Reynor, who you can look at and say “oh yeah, this Protoss player is light years ahead of all the other Protoss players”. It’s just logic. Why not reward the most brilliant Protoss players by giving them opportunity to shine above their peers?
I implore you all the look objectively at these facts so that we may build a better game for all players. Otherwise, we will end up with a game where every matchup is just PvP. And clearly, Protoss players secretly agree with the rest of us, because 80% of PvP games are just a complete and total cheesefest.
