The problem with this game will always be about money

We gave the balance to a council made up of the members of this game which is their livelihood. They will never be able to look at balance outside of this narrow scope of “If I change this, I might lose money.” They don’t care if widow mines, carriers, disruptors, lurkers, etc. are all overpowered and make the actual game everyone tries to play unbearable. They just care that their curated build they’re taking to a tournament to face a very specific person isn’t messed with.

Just look at this game, its absolutely filled to the brim with countless annoying and downright broken things. Its all easy ways for these top players to take games off people and make their money by winning. Winning = Money. Changing units = Possibly Not winning = No money. This is their mindset. It is why nothing will ever change as long as the balance is done by these members of the community.

When I try to imagine the perfect balance of the players from gold league, I suddenly notice how a digit after digit of my IQ disappear and I still can’t imagine what it should look like. 10000 mineral and gas patches, so that they could build a planetary on 1 base and sit behind tanks. 100 minerals voidrays, so that they could open into 3 stargates from 1 base and make them all running.

I like, that the balance is in the hands of people who understand the game and play at the highest level. Because they do fewer mistakes, than I and their loses are mostly coming from the balance. Not like mine, when I again didn’t notice mine drop or lost a prism to the queens, because it was in the main army bind.

I could’ve understood your problem, if the balance was done by a single race, but as far as I know, players of all races were in the discussion, which made these changes pretty fair for every race.

I don’t know how to elegantly tell you that you thinking this way is your problem.

You demonstrate this exact thing: That you think you are right, and preclude any other possibility by any means necessary. You narrow your thoughts and close off your world.

This doesn’t hold because there’s players of all races involved.

The majority of these players play against one another; though. So if they were broken, they’d be able to identify that it is, and they’d be able to abuse it against one another very heavily.

Like, I totally agree that they’re interested in light touches, but it’s not just because of money - it’s because they like the game as it is. If they didn’t, they wouldn’t be here.
And yes, they will always think of different things as annoying than rabble.

And that’s okay? They don’t think Widow Mines and Disruptors are the stupidest units ever made, and they can fairly assess that they’re not overpowered and don’t dominate the game once fielded.

And that’s an accurate assessment. Just because I think something doesn’t make it true – which is why, at the end of the day, it’s vital to get multiple people thinking about something, and people of as many stripes as is reasonable.

They’re probably willing to try plenty of stuff! They probably even have tried stuff, but then reneged on it after testing it because fewer changes are better is pretty generalizable.

Well. I watched harstem vs scarlett on old patch series and i realized its far better to have actual progamers do balance than what the blizzard “balance” team did. They did so many pretty dumb things. Just because they think it would be funny, idk. Most of their ideas were completly horrible.

For example hatch Tech dropperlords. This was Messed Up.
Or everything that happend in 2019.

This isn’t your normal everyday level of delusional posts. This is advanced levels of delusional posts.

Not really, nerfs mostly happens to units that players are disgusted to face the same tactic over and over with no real counterplay. Mass reapers, mass raven, mass infestor, chargelot all-ins, and recently mass voidrays are some of the most degenerative gameplay that killed the diversity of the game before these units were nerfed to the ground.

If that was true the balance team would have nerfed two-rax reaper about a year and a half ago. Now its almost the only thing Terrans open up with vs Zerg. Pretty lame, still in the game.

There is no balance team anymore.

I guess you’ve been living under a rock. There is definitely a huge balance team right now that includes most pro players.

I mean on the blizzard side.

Weird stance to take. I’d say the problem is the lack of money.

anything that makes me lose is bad
Okay buddy

Yes your statement is correct. It is just like the government which controls their income themselves.

Yeah ok bub. Might as well delete the reaper entirely

He is right, you don’t put pros in charge of balance. Do you have any idea the amount of dumb crap they’ve said and dumb crap they’re responsible for?

SPECIAL’s observer nerf is the poster boy for why conflict of interest should be taken seriously.

As a terran I will freely admit it was one of the dumbest and pointless nerfs ever

All because he couldn’t be bothered to scan on a the overlord pillar and instead scanned too far to the side so the observer escaped.

People put way too much stock in pros, they’re people just like us. They say and do dumb stuff just like everyone else. Hell, their pro meta isn’t even reflective of a true ladder experience, they build snipe one another. It’s why some use barcodes to help obfuscate that dumb interaction.
