Instead, make it to where each new prestige talent will be leveled independently from each other. For instance, I have a level 15 Stukov, his Infested Admiral is already lvl 15. Maybe I want to level Plague Warden for a bit, but swap back to my infested Admiral talent that is already level 15.
I…don’t think that will work, for me at least. I got through the first prestige of Artanis by playing his original style, having abilities 100% more effective, but have his units cost 30% more, isn’t what I would like to level up him to level 15 (I don’t really use his abilities), especially since you HAVE to level that prestige up in order to access the other prestige abilities.
however, if they’re all unlocked at the start, then the individual leveling would be awesome!
Reset once (and all three are unlocked) is good for me. Playing through the leveling process after all these mastery years is fun, but definitely not at the second and third time.
The bigger problem I see is that the prestige bonuses are designed with max level in mind, and some of them are REALLY bad at lower levels. Artanis as an example, trying to make ability Artanis work when you don’t have any Templar upgrades (so they suck) and don’t have warp harmonization (so you’re best sticking with gates) means using that mastery on dragoon armies, which would be quite unfortunate.
Eh it’s not all bad there since you don’t have to use the Talent at any point during the leveling. That in itself is a shame mind, since that means you’re releveling without any new toy.
Edit: ignore, cause apparently reading is hard sometimes for me, heh.
You do realise you can play all the prestige with vanilla and previous unlocked prestiges right?..
So you kinda play vanilla till the stuff that you need for the prestige is unlocked…
Face palm
THE ENTIRE POINT of OP’s suggestion is that you HAVE to use the prestige to level it. “I’ll level prestige for a bit then swap back to infested admiral”. If there’re separate levels, you can no longer use the base version in order to level the prestige to a point where it’s useful: you are forced to play with the handicapped commander until you naturally unlock the things that the prestige buffs.
THAT is wirebender’s conern. And I agree with him: it’s an awful idea for zagara scourge queen to be forced to level without zagara. It’s an awful idea to have Kerrigan folly of man do NOTHING except nerf your damage until you unlock fury.
Yeaahhh I’ve got egg on my face for that one, somehow I read and understood OP’s post but it didn’t click how WireBender’s was related.
Where the actual concern is for WireBender’s post, yeah I see the problem.
