Boom Bots suffer from the same thing many mutators do: it’s cranked up to the extreme. I just don’t think there’s a reason for them to spawn as often as they do. In the late game they spawn more basically the moment you clear them.
For anyone who doesn’t know, Boom Bots spawn a bot that walks towards your base. 1 player can see a 4 digit number above the bot. The other player cannot see this number and it must be communicated through text or voice chat so the 2nd player can enter the number on the bot. The bot displays a numpad on its grid card. The bot shows an icon on the map, but the number cannot be seen unless you have sight on the bot. If the number is entered incorrectly the bot gains increased movement speed. If the bot reaches a unit or structure before the number is entered, it self destructs as a nuke. The frequency and number of bots seemed to be similar to Kill Bots/Propagators, I believe we were dealing with 4 at once by the end. I did this with a friend on voice chat, it will definitely be a bit harder with randoms via text.
It’s an interesting mutator but like many of them, their frequency and count could stand to be reduced.

This mutation may cause major AFK… I can imagine major frustration when you have to deal with several Boom bots while there is little amount of time for objective and when enemy waves are coming to your base.
This bot mutation may have some serious synergy with others (propagators, speed freaks, any mutation that divides your attention).
This mutation was previously scrapped and for a good reason, why bring it back?
Speed Freak+ Poopagators+ Boom Bots with MW. And they call that week “Double the fun”.
EDITED: JUST joking

Not tried this mutator yet, but does this mean you can just sacrifice a unit away from your army/base?

basically a Kill bot with a count of 1
The boombot doesn’t die when it nukes, it just enters a short cooldown and then it’s ready to nuke again.
So…You can hold it off for as long as you keep a unit around?
Well, another bad news is that the number pad (you can select “your” boom bots) has a 8 second cooldown. So you can’t just type it ASAP and shut it off, it also means if you get it wrong, you waste at least 32 seconds.
4~5 seconds. Not much time for respite
Will require some serious micro to manage. Those little things make the entire mission a ticking time bomb…
