Here is a list of Terran units (include some of Stukov units and a Stetmann unit) and how many have been used by coop Commander.

  • Barracks/Galleon (unit name type - amount):
    Marine - 4
    Firebat - 2
    Maurader - 3
    Reaper - 2
    Medic - 2
    HERC - 1
    Ghost - 2
    Specter - 1

  • Factory/Galleon:
    Hellion/Hellbat - 3
    Vulture - 1
    Diamondback - 1
    Siege Tank - 4
    Warhound - 1
    Cyclone - 1
    Goliath - 2
    Thor - 1
    Widow Mine - 1
    Predator - 0

  • Starport:
    Wraith - 2
    Viking - 2
    Banshee - 3
    Liberator - 2
    Battlecruiser - 2
    Medivac - 1
    Hercules - 1
    Raven - 2
    Science Vessel - 2

The chance of a Terran Commander next in line is higher than the rest, so which unit will be in their arsenals or Blizz will create a brand new unit just for this one.

I’m basically all but hoping we get Tosh next, and we get a rather neat implementation of Predators with him, since Spectres would already be a given for Tosh. Having discussed it the other week or so, I’m also kind of hoping he’d get the canceled beta unit, the Shredder, as his robotic mine equivalent, as it feels like it could be a real fun and fitting unit for him.

Blizz already has a model for Vakyrie in the 1st Nova Mission - I think

correction: only 3 commanders use marines actually: raynor, nova and stukov. science vessel is used only by swann.

So what type of unit does Tychus represent ?
What is Gary to you ?

tychus is a unique hero unit. gary is a modified harvesting bot.

Ya I inderetand that Tychus and Stetman use terran model assets, but gary and Tychus’s units are clearly hero units, and function so completely differently from standard units I dont think i’d say the unit itself has really been used yet.

What does any of these things matter though?

It is clear (even assuming OP’s count and categorization is correct) that the commander unit sets are imbalanced and chosen not due to any specific pattern, but rather to fulfill certain commander functions.

So even if we do get a Terran commander, it is can still be inclusive of over-used units, such as Marine or Tank. I am 100% more interested in the functionality and role (perhaps even any additionally unique feature) any new commander unit sets may bring, rather than an “oh, look another marine, how boring” kind of mentality. I mean if it’s a flying Marine that can Heal, sounds overpowered but if it works uniquely to the style of the new commander then I am all fore it.

It’s just for the sake of guessing about the next Terran cmd.
For example, Specter, Herc, Medic would be great for someone like Tosh, or Medic, Ghost, Firebat for Warfield, …
Also, it seem that my count is wrong because of counting Heroes unit like Tychus crew and Gary.

I don’t think there is much wrong with your categorization. By that I mean, if Tychus doesn’t count “technically” as a Marine unit, then Nikara doesn’t count as a Medic unit, therefore everyone who compares Nikara’s none-attack problem with Raynor’s Medic is moot also. I think none of these amount to semantics that has 0 impact to what you are trying to discuss lol.

If you’re initial post is wrong, it takes very little effort to fix that instead of just leaving it wrong and inviting people to come argue with you over it even once it’s been resolved.

nikara is a medic and even have the normal voice pack of a medic. she have some unique medic based abilities.

Sadly no, there is one “Valkyrie” model in the HotS mission “Friends Like These…” but it looks nothing like the SC1 Valkyrie. So far it’s the only unit not to be remade in SCII.

That’s the point… if Nikara is a medic then Tychus is a marine, Nux is thusly a spectre, Blaze is a fire at, etc. However, what does that matter?

I think he counts Super Gary as a science vessel.

Edit: I see others have already pointed this out.

gary is technically not a sciense vessel. a science vessel is a manually operated mass produced machine with special abilities. gary is a one of a kind automated machine built by stetmann. it does not matter if one is inspired by the other.
