Team Game maps change bad idea

I was pretty hyped to hear the maps were changing at first, even if they were old. but playing these old maps im reminded that most of them just arnt that good anymore. iv been asking for a map rotation forever but there needs to be a limit to how old you go back.

the meta has changed, map design has changed. these old maps just dont provide good games. many force you into cheese as well.

as much as i was getting tired of playing on the same maps for years i would actually rather have them back at this point.

Yeah. I agree, unfortunately many of those old maps just don’t work well for the game these days. 3v3 is the best of the team games I’ve heard but…

Hopefully next map update will see some team maps rotated for some tlmc ones.

if they keep rotating I wouldnt be that annoyed, verity is nice, but what im REALLY worried about is that they dont change the team game maps for another few years like they have in the past

The problem is there is no consistent game philosophy of why they put in certain team maps that they did. Some of them have horrid expansions, or allow for super abusive mechanics. They should’ve done a hybrid approach: Take the best of last season, and the best of the prior LOTV maps as a whole. But for some reason, they felt compelled to change almost all of the them despite the fact that most team maps are rather poorly done.

There are alot of good team game maps sadly its like they went out of there way to pick the worst maps possible for team games. I dont know who picked these maps but im betting who ever did sat there and said " well they keep complaining about not getting maps so well give them maps, well give them the worst maps ever made and it will be the funniest thing ever listening to them complain more" Seriously, none of the maps ive played yet are even remotely good maps. The ones on 2v2 are down right sad thats how bad they are, and the ones ive played on 3v3 are better but still some of the trashiest maps ever made, and they kept the worst map from last season to boot. Black site is a king of the hill map, you have 3 main rescourse patch and the rest have to be fought over in the middle ground. If i wanted to play king of the hill theres plenty of custom games of king of the hill to choose from, i dont need to have it in 3v3 as well.

Most of the 2v2 maps and some of these 3v3 maps the nats are in the most rediculous places. Theres one on 2v2 where the nats are two gold bases blocked by rocks so not actually a nat and the next closest mineral patch is a third of the map away, and theres only one patch there so the tm that dont get that patch then has to go even further out to expand or be forced to break down the rocks. For a zerg this is a game changer map. face off a against a reaper rush and your practically dead cause you gotta chase them off creep between the mile long nats. Worst map ever. and ive seen some doozies over years but this one in particular is absolute trash.

one of the worst parts of all these maps, is most of them its pointless to even wall off with all the multiple entrances and expo placements.

100% agree just revert the maps to the previous pool if needed! Thanks Blizzard if you read this please revert!

ok so i might have to take back what i said, even tho the maps them selves are bad and yes they absolutely are, they are PERFECT for zerg. Due to the fact that most of the 2v2 maps its pointless to wall off they leave terran and toss wide open for early game ling rushs. Ive been destroying the ladder for a better part of today just going mass ling rush by 4min and its pretty unstopable at the moment. I dont know if its in part due to people just getting used to the maps or what but its working great.

Can’t defend cheese

3 hatch before pool mass slinglings by 4 isnt a cheese, its just a regular old timing attack

I wasn’t talking to you and judging by the maps the forums are spouting nonsense anyways. Very disappointed from the uproar was expecting maps like Ulaan Deeps to be in the pool not Rosebud or Augustine which happen to be the best macro based 3v3 maps lotv has to offer.

oh, my bad, you replied right after i did so i just figured you meant me, but i see what you were doing now. anyways 3v3 isnt too bad with there maps, there not great maps but its nice having a change in them, its 2v2 mainly that has the bad ones set up wise. but like i said they may suck for taking your nats and walling but they are perfect for zerg rushs.

The solution isn’t going back to the same ol’ team maps that weren’t rotated out for two years. Games at the higher leagues started to feel like a ghost town. The best approach should’ve been hybrid: Take the best of last season, and incorporate some of the other season maps that are still highly playable. And they’re out there:

2v2: Required the least amount of rotation. Not many good substitutes, but glad to see Efflorescence LE. I would pick Traitor’s Exile over Dusty Gorge simply because the latter is insanely Terran favored and I say that as a Terran. But, it’s kinda like replacing one bad map with one slightly less bad.
3v3: Backcountry, Bastion of the Conclave, and Doraelus Hills should’ve been included.
4v4: Troizinia LE, Sacred Grounds, and Multiprocessor LE should’ve been included.

Here’s the most important thing to consider for map switches: To remove maps with highly abusive play, or a single strategy dominates. It’s important to have maps that offer a myriad of viable strategies. Especially in team games.

All of these maps have easy to defend naturals with the point of contention on the map being the third, go figure. Contrast this to the old map pool that had Canyon of tribulation. We already have Black Site and Snowbound Colony to appease the skytoss and turtle mech players. There has been a remarkable improvement in map diversity adding these will just be the cherry on top.

Thanks! Also, here’s a thought: if 1v1 can go to 9 maps, I say we go for 8 for all the team versus categories. With three vetoes, that’s five playable maps.

Here’s what I highly recommend for the maps pool:
2v2: Efflorescence LE, Arctic Dream LE, Emerald City LE, Nightscape LE, Sludge City, Heavy Artillery LE, Reclamation LE, Traitor’s Exile
3v3: Realities Stimulation LE, Augustine Fall LE, Backcountry, Bastion of the Conclave, Doraelus Hills, Rosebud LE, Snowbound Colony, Bone Temple LE
4v4: Troizinia LE, Sacred Grounds, Multiprocessor LE, Tuonela LE, Sunset Valley LE, Shipwrecked LE, Tropic Shores, Fortitude LE

its not that i cant defend cheese, its that the map forces you to do it. cheese isnt fun every game I actually prefer to macro in team games

The only time you need to respect cheese is if you’re a zerg versing other zergs otherwise it’s a skill issue.

The current map pool is bad. After D4 I am wondering if Blizzard has lost the ability to do anything well anymore.

Bump for visibility. Revert the team map pool please.
