I’ve made my new home around 4600 MMR.
The more I play T vs P, the more it feels like Toss should just be removed from the game. Playing against Toss feels like cheating/wrong. Their units, sans the disruptor, just don’t feel remotely viable. Kinda how I feel when I play as Toss… The tempest, especially, is a flat out embarrassment. It’s not even fun to play against units that worthless.
The more I play T vs Z, the more confused I get. It’s by far my worst matchup. I’m trying to go mines into cyclones now.
A sad admission: Yesterday, I realized that I had never researched lib range; I was researching the medivac ability, thinking it was lib range. And, yes… every time… I was wondering what kinda placebo upgrade is this… it’s the same range man!! I feel like the most irrelevant upgrade should probably be listed last or in the medivac’s case, just removed. Who actually gets that, whether they should or not?
Zerg feels too mobile for mech is my impression atm. Roach, ravager feels too good at exploiting mech. I’d like to try ranged libs, though. Thors seem like they just enable you to get contained vs mutas. It’s like having a slower version of the archon. Like trying to chase mutas with HT. Again, libs would seem better.
So, I still have to learn T vs Z. T vs T, my main problem, if not only one, is simply I don’t know how to respond vs proxy 2 rax or proxy any rax, really. I’m not sure if I should scout for the proxy, despite proxying myself, as I do believe 2 rax proxy should beat proxy 1 rax in theory. Regardless, when I scout what is happening, directly or indirectly… not sure what my follow up should be. Hellions seem so bad, that it seems like you’d need to make a rax at home. It all seems less than desirable.
My last game was a T vs P vs 4600+ player who was regularly GM in LotV: h ttps://drop.sc/replay/19739503
I get confused vs double gas before expansion. I went ahead and ended up completing my eng bay, at home, before expanding. Yet, it still doesn’t seem to matter, because Toss has to play so scared that they always kill themselves by making shield batteries.
I feel like this is all one has to do to win nearly every game vs Toss. You feel bad for the other side, honestly. Your army is better. Your army is more mobile. You get to take the entire map… and your bases defend themselves. Toss is truly just a punching bag.
Once you make a BC, the game seems over. They have to make their army even more stalker heavy. They don’t have the gas to afford to amass a scary army (w/e that would be). Pretty pigeon holed into a lack luster comp, vs… a really good one.
