The Stetmann commander is terrible.
Your profile says you haven’t gotten him to level 15 yet. I won’t condemn you for not grinding a character you don’t find fun but you should know that Super Gary fixes a lot of his flaws.
Of course, the question then becomes “is it okay to demand a full grind to 15?” I say it isn’t, given that it means it’s only an enjoyable experience quite a while after you pay up for the character.
…Speaking as someone who’s played a grand total of two matches of co-op, but still. You can play them freely to level 5, they should actually have their core toolkit functioning by then so you know what you pay for.
The difference between lvl 1 and lvl 15 with Mastery 90 is pretty extreme.
As to whether it’s okay to demand that a person lvl a character to 15, well, that’s up to the individual player. It IS true, however, that if you don’t lvl a character to 15, you’ll never find out what they are like at full strength.
As far as cost, as far as modern gaming goes, 5 dollars and a few coppers for tax is not what you’ll have to cash out in, say, Elder Scrolls Online. Even 5 dollars wasted is not a huge disaster. For that reason, I think the prices in this game are pretty reasonable.
Not sure what being 15 has to do with knowing whether or not a commander sucks but it’s 15 now and it still sucks; I had every intention of leveling it to 15, after all I bought it. He’s the most underpowered, unrewarding commander I have played. As banelingline pointed out you shouldn’t have to pay to find out it sucks… It wouldn’t be hard to fix though and I’ll assume they are looking at it. I just feel completely money-starved, and it just can’t compete with the other commanders, Battlecarrier lords, for example, sound like they’d be a badass unit, then you find out the rely on energy and a lot of it thus making you run energy regen the entire time… It’s just ridiculous. Anyway I’ve wasted money before this won’t be the first or last time.
Did you play a match with Super Gary or call it quits as soon as you got the 15? Super Gary’s higher durability, stronger attack, double abilities (IE mass teleport for mobility) and ability to make his own Stetzone allowing for easy set ups in key parts of the map are a massive power boost especially in the early game.
Super Gary makes a big difference. Double stock of abilities, more durable, moves faster, base damage is higher, becomes a detector, can make his own Stetzone allowing you to place Stetellites effectively anywhere.
It kinda sounds like you don’t like this commander, but there’s a lot of players that are happy with Stetmann. Sorry you had a bad experience though.
Commanders are free to play and try out until level 5. You can also look at online gameplay videos if you really want to be sure the $5 would be worth it.
Not finding him fun would be a valid complaint. However, Stetmann really isn’t underpowered if you learn how to play him.
Super Gary doesn’t make that big of a difference.
Yea I’m sure there are people who like things I don’t…
I’m not sure how you could not know how to play him, All the commanders are pretty simple. That being said, he’s still unpowered. lol
If you are happy with him then good for you, I still say he sucks.
If you’re thinking of buying this commander because you looked through the upgrades and thought “that’d be cool” lol you might be disappointed.
Activating his own Stetzone and placing Stetellites nearby when it’s active in prep for a big attack makes a big difference. You should be fighting in the zones with Stetellites overcharged otherwise you are putting yourself at a considerable disadvantage. Less reliance on creep spreading Stetellites is a good thing.
Super Gary can easily hold his own in the early game if you decide to rush him out. This allows you to build up, tech up and not waste resources otherwise.
Have you tried mass Infestors?
I get it, you don’t think I know how to play him lol…
Yes, I’ve even tried mass infestors… For fun lol
He’s just nowhere near as strong as the commanders I’m used to playing. If that’s intended, that’s fine I just won’t play him in brutations as he can’t keep up with other commanders in damage.
I’m saying you are jumping to conclusions without knowing what his full capabilities are. Stetmann is hardly the strongest but he’s not weak either.
You say he isn’t, I say he is… Guess we’ll have to agree to disagree.
A good player can demonstrate how good Stetmann can be but by taking the opposite stance, you are kind of hurting yourself here.
Count me in on that. For me personally, Stetmann is an all around upgraded version of Kerrigan that is even more fun to play on top. For every unit Kerrigan has he has a counterpart and most of the time that counterpart is more powerful than the original.
Then he gets Zagara’s loadout on top and a bunch of cool abilities to micro instead of just lame mass hydra a-move battles.
The only part I would want them to change is a nerf to infestors and perhaps some help with the lag if possible.
Stetmenn is either the worst commander if you are a garbage player that never uses unit abilities and is terrible at micro, or he is an S Tier commander that is easily as strong as Zeratul, Tychus, and Abathur IF you actually use those unit abilities and spread those satellites, using the overcharge ability with a green field is OP enough by itself to make any brutal match a snoozefest.
using the overcharge ability with a green field is OP enough by itself to make any brutal match a snoozefest.
Yeah exactly and then blue speed field? It’s the omeganetwork your ally actually uses. The only thing left which would have made it brutally OP was if it affected summoned units like Stukov bio or Dehaka’s creeper swarms as well.
He’s pretty similar to Raynor in a way it seems. Truly terrible if you use him poorly, but excellent if you know what you’re doing.
LoL this way pretty funny. So If I don’t agree with you I’m somehow bad and I’m hurting myself.
I like how every reply is something along the lines of " If you suck Stetmann will suck". Or “If you don’t use abilities or know how to micro” lmao Jesus people. I don’t like the Commander in question, I’m able to micro and use unit abilities fine, I don’t find him to be as strong as he should be in some ways. If you like him, that’s awesome for you. I don’t, it has nothing to do with my micro, macro, or my damn apm lmao…
