StarCraft comics

Expecially the new Survivors. What people think about them? Are they interesting take on the StarCraft universe? Should I read them?

I stopped reading Shadow Wars after 1st episode. But Survivors look pretty because of Stetman!

Wait, I may have been unclear. Shadow Wars and the comic with Stetmann (titled This Sacred Land) comes from the War Chests.
I was speaking of the comics line published by Dark Horse. There has been a 4-part Scavengers, a 4-part Soldiers and now is being published a 4-part Survivors.

Read only Scavengers thus far. Liked it.

Any questions?

Scavengers is great, Soldiers is a consistently decent character study that droops in central narrative at the end but has a mostly satisfying character payoff, and Survivors is like a much more honed and refined version of the Scavengers tone, a real psych horror comic

They’re worth checking out. They’re much smaller scale stories but really do well building tension and atmosphere, and make you care about the cast for how short the runs are (though they’re 24 page comics each). For like three dollars, they’re well worth picking up.

Don’t expect drastic shifts in the story or anything, but they’re good contained little romps. Togetic and I just keep making the mistake of apparently getting hyped up about the wrong parts of the comics.

They’re better than the plot of the games, at least.

I know I give Blizzard a lot of grief for bad writing, but that’s mostly because whoever was in charge didn’t care about basic things like continuity or believability. The Individual stories can be pretty good, at least when the author isn’t hamstrung by the silliness of the canon.

Comic writers have humongous edge of not being restricted by gameplay and they have also much easier way to create brand new characters.
