Casual gamer may be feeling super stressed when playing 1v1 when life is hard enough already.
How to relax after a long work day and pick up my favorite game , then get super stressed out ?
It’s so competitive and requires so much practicing to be good.
Anyone has any good advice???
Maybe find a friend and play Archon-mode? It’s really fun, even 2v2 are less stressful than 1v1.
Co-op maybe?..
- Have you tried screaming WRYYYYYYYYYYY or just yelling MUDA repeatedly at your opponent?
- Making an alt-account for laddering on bad ladder days/stressful days worked well for me because I was usually stressed about my poor performance rather than actually playing the game. I don’t care if I lose on my alt.
- Focus on what you can improve on each game, not the outcome. Make a goal each session “I’d like to spend better” and just focus on that. Even if you’re losing, if you’re focusing on improving what you want to improve, or at least learning what you’re not doing right, you’re generally having a better time.
GLHF!
If you get stressed with 1v1’s. try co-op.
One method I use to deal with it is off race. When I off race I dont really expect to win and I play for gigs and lulz. Not to mention off racing is great practice, I was on a streak today playing Zerg finally got my Zerg to Diamond and switched back to playing Terran for my last few games and played like a god. That’s just me though.
I used to find 1v1 really stressful but I’ve almost completely over it and enjoy it as a competition now. When I just wanted to relax I played team games. It’s still somewhat competitive but much more relaxed since you have at least one partner.
There’s no real “do this and all stress will be gone” solution unfortunately. Playing team games might help a little but tbh most of the stress you are feeling is likely coming from your desire to win/improve/move up the ladder. Which will all still be a thing in team games.
So my suggestion to you is try not to take losses so hard. I know that’s easier said than done. But not caring as much about a loss is the best way to reduce the stress. View them as learning experiences that will help you improve in future matches. The skill will come with practice, but the getting over the ladder anxiety/ stress from losing is one of the more difficult parts of the game.
If you start to feel super stressed out while playing 1v1 maybe try taking a break. Play some unranked, arcade, team games, off race, or customs to cool off. Then come back. Thats what I do.
Any competitive thing pushing your abilities to the limit will be stressful. If you are not ready to accept it - play some other mode.
There is, but you’d need to clean your jeyboard a lot more frequently.
Best to get a mechnical keyboard and soak the caps in strong disinfectant.
You can play coop, or practice vs AI until you are confident and get used to losing.
Hello Brando,
You are already in Platin league, so you have in the meanwhile a really strong and competent gameplay! You know, that you are better than 60% of all SC2 Players.
If you play 1v1 this is “a mode of challange” … always …
Play coop on normal - hard if you want play relaxed.
Play custom game against AI, (normal - hard) to keep relaxed.
If you want to play 1v1 relaxed, you need go back to silver league …
You need to set you mentailty so that you don’t care of losses and you wanna only train and learn (or simply have fun). I know it’s not easy to do, but it’s certainly possible. Stress and frustration influence your game in a very bad way, since to do your best you need to be concentrated and calm.
Many players have multiple accounts, one of them is for high ranked games and others are just for casual games when you don’t wanna push yourself too much and care of lost points.
Nexus Wars or something not SC 2 related.
Have you tried complaining about balance on the forums?
Have you tried posting something that makes sense?
Oh wait, I see. It’s a joke. I did not realize right away because it’s not funny.
Dear, you must have had a rough day. May I suggest that you renew your supplies of sedatives?
People that has no sense of humor and take themselves so seriously as to be considered as pompous windbags are the most sad category.
I can find 100 times more point of contact with a terran-troll that is funny and clever than presemptious windbags of every race (including Protoss).
Playing unranked helps: just try some new stuff, take some risks by playing cheesy or very greedy. If it works fine, if not you didn’t really “lose”, since you were merely trying things out. If that sounds too stressful, play a bit of Co-op to keep the muscle memory and have some fun playing Starcraft. And if even Co-op sounds like too much trouble, just lie in bed and have a bit of rest: you could probably use some.
OP this is the best advice you received. If you start accepting your losses you’ll get a positive state of mind where playing the game is the only thing that really matters.
You’re plat so I guess you’ve already get uses to the fast pace of the game. Now think about this: if we lose against someone, it’s not because we just suck, it’s because your opponent was a bit better than you, just a bit. Your MMR reflects only your dedication to the game, nothing else. You’re plat so if you remind your overall experience as a player, you will see an improvement for sure. Be happy for that and think that if you continue to play and practice correctly the game, you will become even stronger.
P.S: healthy state of mind is the best remedy to whining.
