Some more potential Protoss changes

To begin with I will say what i think about the PvX matchups.

PvT: Although, the matchup at some points went well for the Terran. Aka Season 1 ladder 2020, i feel that maybe the matchup is shifting towards the toss favor a little bit the matchup looks 55:45 to me especially in lategame.

ZvP: Ah the hotly debated matchup. Although this one was hilariously one sided the Protoss buffs and Zerg nerfs seem to have a moderate but noticeable effect on balance. Furthermore, I think the matchup has improved from a viewer perspective as well. But overall i still feel that Zerg still has the upper hand within the matchup. Feels like 60:40 for the Zerg, was 85:15 2 patches ago.

So with that in mind I would like to suggest some ideas for protoss. The goal is to slightly temper Protoss’s power in PvT while buffing Protoss in ZvP. Oh, btw a controversial opinion but i feel like banelings are not a requirement for Zerg in ZvP. While a requirement in ZvT. Banelings are an added bonus to make Protoss lives miserable. (I don’t propose another baneling nerf on the contrary, solve it via Protoss buffs)

Zealot:

  • Zealot charge now grants speed up to 4.13 down from 4.72
  • Zealot will do 5 damage on impact with +1 damage per forge attack upgrade.

Adept:

  • Remove light tag, added armored tag
  • Charge upgrade will also benefit Adepts, increasing its movement speed from 3.5 to 4.72
  • Can now shoot air, same damage as its ground attack, same range.

Dark Templar:

  • Removed the light tag
  • Damage decreased from 50 to 40+10 vs biological

Sentry:

  • Added new upgrade on cybernetics core, Temporal sheids 125/125
  • Temporal sheilds will also reduce melee attacks by 3 on top of its current
    guardian shield function
  • Temporal sheilds reduces bile damage by 20. Units underneath will take 40 damage instead of 60.
  • Remove light tag, added armored tag

Robotics facility

  • Cost increased from 150/100 to 175/100

Immortal:

  • Cost reduced from 275/125 to 250/125.
  • Base damage increased from 20 to 25+3 per attack upgrade

Colossus:

  • Damage changed from 10+5 vs light to 12+3 vs light
  • Cannot be abducted

Warp prism:

  • Cost reduced from 250/0 to 225/0

Observer:

  • Movement speed increased from 2.63 to 3.85

Tempest:

  • Supply decreased from 5 to 4
  • AA attack damage increased from 30 to 40+4
  • AA range reduced from 14 to 12
  • Health reduced from 200/100 to 150/100
  • Armor reduced from 2 to 1
  • Movement speed increased from 3.15 to 3.85
  • Acceleration increased from 2.1 to 2.8

Voidray:

  • Armor increased from 0 to 2.

Note i have some Terran changes as well particularly for TvP but I’ll omit it for this post. Tempest is the one I’m kinda iffy at while justified against Zerg looks OP vs Terran.

Terran:
Now I think Vikings aren’t very good or lack the flexibility of the wraith at BW.
So

Viking:

  • Movement speed increased from 3.85 to 4.42
  • Base armor increased from 0 to 1.

Liberator:

  • Damage changed from 75 to 80.

Unless i missed something, the liberator will still takes the same shots to a hydralisk or a queen regardless of upgrades. While +1 attack liberator will 2 shot stalkers and ease the transition to lategame TvP. Also these vikings will kill proxy void rays more easily.

Even tough it’s a straight up nerf from the past Charge with no compensation, Protoss needs that damage back so sure I agree.

The armor tag makes no sense and I don’t like charge to Adepts, the air attack is a great old suggestion.

Remove light tag is a useless buff, might aswell keep it. The damage of the DT is the only thing Protoss can still use to harass. No one dies to DT these days, so DT is more than fine the way they are.

The tag is weird, I don’t like it. I don’t think Bile should be adressed this way and I like the idea of the GS buff.

Thank you, please. Revert this stupid nerf to macro players that was intended to hurt cheese players, if they realy want to hurt cheesers just nerf the build time of the Robo to 10~15 more seconds, not the Immortal itself.

Colossus does need a buff, why not give it the Thor treatment, a straight up buff to the damage, doesn’t even need to be a huge one like they did to Thor.

In fact, let’s compare it to the Thor: same cost, same supply cost, Colossus take longer to build, and guess who is more vulnerable? Colossus got less hp, same armor that is applied only for 200 hp, same range, faaaaaar less dps, range bonus requires upgrades, and the funny part is even tough Colossus is taller that can straight up be attacked by air it has less vision range than the Thor and can’t even attack air. And after I said all of that, guess what the tradeoff is? Thor is slower… sc2 balance.

To me 250 is fine.

Yes, the meme.

Solid suggestion, this unit is garbage.

Another Protoss meme… Nerf VR again please, we don’t like this unit. For this unit to worth their pretty skins, take off all the recent buffs, revert speed, remove Flux Veins, revert the cost and build time, to buff build time to VR is to encourage cheeses, just decrease supply cost to 3.

my idea with the adepts is that Protoss lacks a unit that is active. Something that can harass Zerg and clear creep in midgame situations. Other than prism harass Protoss really does not have anything else within the arsenal. I put the armored tag to temper its strength in TvP and so that Banelings don’t annihilate them in ZvP.

Idk these new adepts where they reap the benefits of increased movement speed from charge upgrade might be able to encourage more active Protoss play in ZvP, where they can do hit and run tactics of sending 6 adepts with the buffed observer to clear creep shade backwards. TvZ design with a Protoss touch except no medivacs. I can see these adepts being very good in harassments where a well timed shade, attack in midgame will be able to kill 6-7 drones and escape with shade from outlying Zerg bases. Also Colossus is laughably underpowered vs Zerg hence those pretty big buffs and DT ehh an experiment to make blink DT’s more viable vs Zerg while doing nothing in TvP.
